Titanfall 2 is a first person shooter and the sequel to 2010’s Titanfall. Unlike the original (which is a multiplayer only game), Titanfall 2 includes a solo campaign too. There was some concern that trying to add a solo campaign to a game that had mastered the art of multiplayer, may have seen it fall short. However it’s safe to say the team at Respawn Entertainment surpassed all expectations and absolutely smashed it! The campaign focuses on Militia soldier Jack Cooper and his Titan BT-7274 and their battle against the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and their blood thirsty mercenaries.
Set in “The Frontier” (a region of stars light years away from Earth’s solar system), there’s a war being waged for the control of The Frontier between the IMC and the Frontier Militia. The IMC seek to plunder the rich resources of The Frontier, with a total disregard for the collective planet’s environments or inhabitants and the Militia are the only thing standing in their way. As a result, Jack Cooper is sent to the planet Typhon to team up with BT-7274 and battle the local alien forces and the IMC’s mercenaries.
Without doubt, Titanfall 2 has excellent combat and movement mechanics. You get to control both Jack and BT-7274 and both have a serious arsenal of awesome weapons and gadgets. Utilise jet pack jumps, slides and wall-runs whilst firing assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs and rocket launchers (just to name a few). The hugely popular multiplayer mechanic that was so impressive in the first game has only been enhanced in the sequel too, with new maps and modes introduced. All in all, Titanfall 2 is a game not to be missed!
