The aging Assassin’s Creed franchise begs to be retooled and refreshed, and the paint-by-the-numbers Syndicate is yet more proof of that.

The combination of an interesting and diverse cast of characters and the entertaining and compelling story sit perfectly in the beautifully recreated 1860’s London. It doesn’t do everything to solve all the series’ problems, missions can feel repetitive and there are some minor AI bugs that will shatter the sense of immersion occasionally, but by taking a step backwards and removing much of the excess baggage that the series has accumulated over the years of annual releases, Syndicate has become the best Assassin's Creed since Brotherhood.

In the end, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a far more competent entry than the much maligned Unity, but it does not entirely restore faith in the aging franchise.

Syndicate is a solid sequel that will delight fans of the series, but most likely will not draw new people to the brand. If only devs pay more attention to an optimization and get rid of repeatable tasks, the result could be significantly better.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate works like a charm on the PC. The game looks and feels great. There is lots of content available and those who love the franchise will love Syndicate. Syndicate is a very solid PC release and a must-have for any fan.

Ubisoft need to step back and learn from them games. Turning AC into and online shopping type game has really made it stale. We had a great layered approach to the games in the past now its just bash and dash with in game purchasing to boost the bash..We have gone from multi faceted beautiful games from Ubisoft to a bland cheese sandwich. My guess is they just cant create those games anymore, when you employ monkeys you get peanuts.Really unhappy but we as consumers can do NOTHING except not buy the games, cant see that happening as Ubisoft tempt us with a promise of the past but deliver dust.

It’s a solid entry in a series that’s been far too prolific, and while Syndicate is good, it’s tough to be excited about it.

Really fun, with an extraordinary atmosphere, to please the fans and engage new to the franchise, much more polished than Unity, Ubisoft moves on right direction again.

Syndicate is not only a very interesting Assassin’s Creed experience, is also a polished sandbox and it has some interesting new gameplay features.

Ubisoft did a much better job with Syndicate than with the PC version of Unity. The promise to keep a closer eye on quality control of future Assassin's Creed games has been mostly kept. Still, Syndicate on PC could benefit from additional code optimization. If you don't own a console and enjoy this universe you should be happy with this version.

AC Syndicate improves from last year's game with an interesting new character Evie, faster travelling via grappling (before playing the game I was actually upset that they added this feature), and the great setting/environment.It isn't without it's flaws and I wouldn't recommend it to a non-AC fan, but I still had fun with it. Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a game you should get if you liked the series before Unity.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a fantastic game. Let me repeat that: It’s a fantastic game. The lingering control issues (and even these are minimized) and some minor pacing issues as a result of the two-protagonist approach can’t taint this gargantuan project.

The game's high production values were a bit diminished by the series' longstanding fallacies, such as random lag and instances of poor texturing, but London remains a gorgeous place to visit.

A fair amount of bugs and lack of a present-day scenario detract from what is otherwise a strong return to form for Assassin’s Creed. Syndicate touts not one, but two great protagonists, strong gameplay, and Victorian Era London is neck and neck with Renaissance Italy as the best place the series has been to.

Apparently this is the result of toned down graphics, though the game is beautiful anyway. London really lives!

The tools they provide you with for stealth make playing the game that way much more doable, eagle vision is much better and very useful, throwing knives are very effective, the grapple gun is a god send for quick getaways, and the hidden blade is as useful as ever.The combat is far faster paced and also much more challenging. When fighting a large group it requires intense focus to fend off multiple enemy attacks, especially when fighting higher difficulty enemies. While attacking an enemy one must be constantly watching for counters, new enemy attacks, and gun shots. Leveling up one's fighting skills and gear is absolutely essential.The two protagonists are very likable characters. Their banter is both witty and at times deep. A good story that's let down by a poor ending.Also worth nothing is that the game runs very well and looks great! I only had frame rate drops at especially high synchronization points.

The Assassin's saga is starting to feel a bit tired when it comes to structure and gameplay, but Syndicate does pretty much everything that Unity tried to do better (well, except for the multiplayer, completely taken out of the game), and grabs the player's attention with great characters and finally a decent storyline. Also, the virtual London is splendid, but you expected that, right?

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate gets more right than it gets wrong, but in trying to amend some of the sins of the series, it exacerbates the issues instead of offering a cure. Despite that rather lengthy list of cons at the bottom of my review, one thing’s for sure: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is still a hell of a lot of fun.

Syndicate is a massive shame. Ubisoft’s yearly development cycle is really beginning to leave its mark on the series. Assassin’s Creed has been good. It is a series that can be great, but unfortunately Syndicate is a misstep. For a series concerned with making its players historical tourists, it is ironic that it is so stuck in the past.

The focus is back on single player stealth and freedom, with the final game giving us the feeling that the franchise is absolutely back on track. Excellent fun.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate features a solid campaign, elevated by challenging assassination missions and a spellbinding setting. Syndicate delivers all of the innovations I had hoped to see from Unity, which was the franchise's first new-generation console entry, as the adjustments to combat, stealth, and travel breathe new air into the series.
