Jump Force is one of the newest fighting games on the market today. It is based on a popular Japanese magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, and was developed to celebrate the magazine's 50th anniversary in circulation. While not having as high of a distribution level today due to the rise of the Internet and other digital media, Weekly Shonen Jump sold well over six million copies per week in the late 1980s and early 1990s and over seven billion copies have been sold since its creation in the late 1960s. These are certainly impressive figures worth celebrating and what's more is that many popular anime and magna characters known today had their start in the magazine.
Jump Force follows a standard three vs three tournament-style fighting concept and allows players to select from popular characters featured in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Even casual fans or those completely new to the concept of anime will be able to recognize some of the game's most popular shows including Bleach, Dragon Ball, and Yu-Gi-Oh! There are over 40 characters to choose from, which makes up quite an impressive cast and what's more impressive is how they operate.
Bandai has obviously given this game quite a bit of attention as the fighters each contain signature moves related to their series and there are actually very few generic options that have seemingly been inserted just to fill out a move set. The game also contains a create a character option, which allows players to develop their completely unique characters based on various moves that the original characters are able to perform. This has nearly unlimited potential when it comes to creating a hybrid of various legendary characters and their most devastating attacks.
The visuals are impressive with smooth scrolls and transitions between attacks giving the game a distinctly cinematic feel. These attacks were programmed with new precision timing on the audio track as well. There is no noticeable input lag between the strike landing and the associated sound effect erupting over a sound system, which is a certain step forward in the fighting game genre that can sometimes be associated with this sort of mismatched timing.
One of the most fun experiences in the fighting genre has arrived and it's time for players to take advantage of what this new evolution has to offer. Download Jump Force today to see what the hype is all about!
