With its vibrant art style, playful atmosphere, plenty of cleverly-designed levels to solve, and some interesting, if uneven, new ideas at play, Drawn to Life: Two Realms is an enjoyable game, but it never quite manages to capture the magic of its predecessors.

Though the game has nice visuals and is the continuation of a creative series, Two Realms failed to maintain the magic Drawn to Life had on DS. Unfortunately, my disinterest in the story kept me unmotivated to wait through cut scenes to get to the next levels. Levels could be fun, but they could also be terribly too easy or frustratingly hard. The best moments in the game are dispersed too far apart and they don’t feel worth the hassle to get to.

An enjoyable overworld dragged down by tedious, imprecise platforming gameplay. It’s not devoid of merit, but Drawn To Life: Two Realms isn’t the jolt of electricity needed to shock the franchise back to life.

Drawn To Life: Two Realms appears familiar, but when you start to play it, it just falls apart at the seams. Everything that made the originals fun, particularly the touchscreen controls, has been disregarded, leaving a huge disappointment behind.

I am happy to see that Drawn To Life is still mulling around in the minds of the creators. I'm not the world's biggest fan of platformers, but I greatly enjoyed the playful creativity and customisation that the original games offered. That Two Realms has somehow pulled back on a concept that even primitive DS and Wii titles managed perfectly well is very disappointing, but I hope that the low price point means that this was just a token first effort that will lead into a more substantial, and conceptually true, re-boot down the track.

It genuinely starts off after the events of next chapter, the gameplay is a little different instead of worlds and platform levels to explore your bouncing back and forth from one Realm to another doing platform puzzles solving issues through those platform puzzles. I hope to see more of this series and see more of these characters.

Drawn To Life: Two Realms marks the return of the franchise after more than a decade, with slightly different gameplay and a story that follows the events of the previous games. It is not a perfect game, but it is a small experience that knows how to mix puzzles, platforms and creativity.

The concept of making it into a puzzle platformer is interesting, but the challenges can go from a walk in the park to asking for advanced comprehension in an instant. Meanwhile, walking around the open world is extremely slow, with the player depending on temporary speed boost power ups to get to where they want to be in a decent time - another example of the game feeling like it's stalling the player.

Drawn to Life: Two Realms loses some of the series' most characteristic traits while attempting to gain new ones. The result is a mixed bag, combining interesting levels and an overall pleasant narrative department with many technical flaws, unjustified difficulty spikes and a game that often seems to aim at the wrong target audience.
