Assassin’s Creed Origins is the 10th in the action adventure stealth series. Set in circa 50BC in stunning ancient Egypt, Origins gives us insight into the….. well origins (funnily enough) of the centuries-long epic feud between the Brotherhood of Assassins aka the good guys and The Order of the Ancients (who paved the way for the Templar Order) aka the bad guys. Take control of the ancient Medjay (an elite paramilitary police officer) Bayek and his wife Aya and discover how they came to be the first Assassins.
Origins received critical acclaim from around the world due to the improvements over the last game in the series – 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Features such as naval combat, underwater exploration and tomb raiding make a welcomee return in Origins.
The fighting mechanics have also changed for the better. The ‘paired animation system’ (which based the fighting on predetermined animations and scripted movements) has been replaced by the ‘hit-box system’ (a more fluid mechanic that enables you to strike anyone in range and injure specific body parts etc.) – marvellous! There’s an excellent array of weaponry to use too and each takes time to master. Your provided with a shield too and balancing attack and defence is key to taking out enemies.
The favourite new little touch though, is the replacement of previous Assassin’s ‘eagle vision’ with an ACTUAL eagle (called Senu). Send Senu off into the distant and use his eagle vision to locate nearby enemies. Senu isn’t the only predator you can tame to assist you either, but we won’t spoil that for you just now.
