I really enjoyed the game. I especially loved the characters in this game. I liked the story, presentation, and gameplay. However, the combatI really enjoyed the game. You basically had infinite health when you had a lot of meds, which was not hard to get. Only some boss battles were very engaging. The easy combat was not a turn-off for me at all. In general, a very good experience.

Same engine as Kiwami and 0, different story and although its still a good game, I wasn't sold on Ryuji Goda as the main antagonist. Especially coming off the heels of Nishikiyama. The one super good thing about the Kiwami version is that they added a small Majima Saga, which expands on 3 chapters in between certain main chapters to delve deeper in the story. Although during the Majima Saga you can send Kiryu (yourself), money through a ATM machine, thats all you get to send/keep. There is no leveling up carried over and no weapons/items carried over. If you are familiar with the Yakuza series then the weapons and items are not a big deal at all, but, it would have been nice to carry over EXP to Kiryu. The Majima Saga story fills in nicely but tbh, if you do not have to fight, there is no point since its easy, simple, doesn't do anything to level up Majimo nor Kiryu, and the battle for Majima is the same as 0.

One more thing before the fans of this game murder me, the fights with multiple enemies also suck. imagine the blocking and dodging issues I had with the boss, but 5 times worse, at least the grunts don't have as much heath. other than that I can't really say much for the story as this is the first Yakuza game I've tried. I've heard that the plot is good so I won't give it less than a 4/10 but I won't see much of that story because I refuse to play any more of this game, the bad combat was funny at first but then it got annoying

Yakuza Kiwami 2 delivers a slick fresh coat of paint onto this Japanese epic tale, while keeping the same engaging and complex story that fans know and love. A memorable narrative, and some excellent dialogue and delivery make this a story that is worth playing, even for new entrants to the franchise. Meanwhile, while there are a few blotches on the graphical presentation of this remake, Tokyo has never looked so authentic in a game before, and the atmosphere built is second to none. There are some niggles with the camera, and the slightly outdated UI, however, the combat and mini-games are of a high standard, and keep things incredibly enjoyable throughout this extensive adventure.

The good and bad things are utterly similar.A few things are still as good as before, though.Kamurocho and Sotenbori are still great places to "live" for a while, the soundtrack is amazing, the graphics are beautiful, the battle system is much simpler now, mini-games are still fun and the new characters fit perfectly with the series' story.There were 3 things that I LOVED about Kiwami 2: The first few chapters, the sidequests and Majima's 3 extra chapters!. The story is pretty inconsistent and even boring, at times, but DAMN! The first 5 or 6 chapters are intense, well paced and FUN!. The other Yakuza games I played had GREAT sidequests, but this one takes the cake! If you want a glimpse of how creative these optional stories are, just search for the 'Be My Baby' substories and thank me later.. Majima's 3 chapters are pure joy and simplicity. It gives an "ending" to Majima's events that took place in 0, packs a very good short story and let's you play as the Mad Dog himself, which felt awesome.But here's the thing. There are 2 major flaws that kept me from liking it too much.... First, the game is VERY similar to past entries. By this point, I know how Yakuza games work, but that doesn't mean that the games need to be almost the same.The story's themes were similar, mini-games are the same, some sidequests were just repeats and even some plot twists felt EXTREMELY predictable because past games did the SAME thing. The whole plot starts great, but just loses itself in the middle and never picks up again. There are at least 3 chapters that were pure filler. The pacing is bloody terrible! And I won't even say anything about the final chapters' 100 plot twists. It was just too forced.. Second. the fighting system still needs a lot of work. It's not good at all. Bosses and mini-bosses can still overwhelm Kiryu with ease. The flow of every fight feels broken. Just actually hitting a full combo in a major enemy is a chore. It's unnecessarily janky and brutal. This mess could be solved with a dedicated dodge button, a lock-on system that actually works and a consistent defense mechanic, but at this point, it's a lost cause.Overall, I did not like Kiwami 2 very much.I still love the world and characters of this series, but I can't shake the feeling that there are little to no development and novelty to things. There's a unique charm in it's tales and gameplay, but it's not enough. It's pretty sad, since Yakuza 0 became one of my favorite games.I still want to try the other games of the franchise, but Kiwami 2 made me think about entirely dropping it. I can only recommend it if you REALLY want to play Yakuza.

TK 2 is still a Yakuza game, which means it's a crime drama interspersed by fights, exploration, minigames and substories full of ridiculous slice-of-life character moments that help humanise protagonist Kiryu—making him more than the hardboiled stereotype he could so easily have been. Some games just can't get old somehow they can be remastered or dev's can release another edition and you can always play them regardless of technical advancement they remain relevant in video game history like the YK franchise. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is that game and I highly suggest it giving it a place in your Xbox One library.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is as abundant as it’s easily approachable. It has a lot to do and plenty of beautiful things to watch, all wrapped in smooth gameplay that can be adapted to the personal playstyle. On Xbox One, the game costs only 20 dollars for a stunning value for money (it’s also a part of Game Pass library). Admittedly, you have to appreciate Japanese culture and entertainment, and be content with the fact that you won’t be firing any guns. In the cruel but honorable world of the game, the hardness of your fists, the reach of your kicks, and the depth of your heart are what matter the most.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 on Xbox One is an excellent addition to Xbox Game Pass, and another solid entry to the series. It is a culmination of the series so far that has arrived on Xbox in 2020, until Like a Dragon releases later in the year. Hopefully, the remaining titles of 3-6 can release on Xbox, because Kiryu and Haruka’s journey is only just beginning. But if this is the last ‘Kiryu’ Yakuza game, then it’s been a wild ride.

For series veterans, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a great time but it doesn’t give us anything we haven’t seen many times before, with the usual environments, side-activities, and cutscene-heavy narrative exposition. If we are being honest it’s a series that is due for a reset, and it looks like the upcoming Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be just that. But if you have not yet experienced the series, Yakuza Kiwami 2 needs to be high on your must-play list. So much to do, so much to explore, so many faces to roundhouse kick – living the Yakuza life sure is a hell of a lot of fun.

Now let's have Yakuza 3, 4, 5, and 6 on Xbox, please.

I won't spoil anything, but basically the chapter serves almost no purpose in the story and decreases the game's grounding in reality.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a fantastic sequel and a game worthy of the Yakuza title. It improves on almost every aspect of the original, creating a much more immersive version of Kamurocho and deepening the already compelling relationships between the recurring characters. It also has a better villain and more engaging side quests. Yes, there are annoyances, bugs, and some pacing issues with the overall plot, but on the whole, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a wonderful addition to the Yakuza franchise. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Kamurocho!

I had never heard of the Yakuza series until March 2019 and have since placed Yakuza Kiwami 0, 1 and 2. For 0 and 1, I ignored all of the minigames and side-content; as I was so engaged in the story. For whatever reason, in Yakuza Kiwami 3, I found myself completing all the side-missions and they were also fun. Although, I'd probably ignore the Majima Construction minigame; unless you want to listen to the song.SEGA, please release 3, 4, 5 and 6 for the PC.

Excellent work which brings back one of the most beloved chapters of the saga: highly recommended to all, even to those who have already played it over two decades ago.

The tale of Tokyo and Osaka, Kiryu and Sayama's partnership, and Kiryu and Goda's rivalry remains one of the Yakuza's best stories, and Kiwami 2's minor missteps don't affect the heart of that experience.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 doesn't hit all the notes of its predecessor, but it's still a gorgeous re-imagining of one of Sega's finest action games.

Not having played Yakuza 6 yet, at first I was disappointed with the Dragon engine, which offers only painful 30 frames per second. New tech has its advantages though, as you may enter most of shops, restaurants etc. without annoying loading, which is a significant step forward from the first Kiwami, as are the physics engine, animation system and enhanced control over combat. Overall it is a very good game, but not as brilliant as Yakuza 0, especially in terms of the story.

An excellent remake that brings back characters and story events with updated visuals. The weak point of Kiwami 2 is the combat system which we see as a missed opportunity.

I really, really enjoyed my time with Yakuza Kiwami 2, and as a fan of the series, I’d certainly urge you to check it out. It has very few flaws, outside of some minor animation issues and the occasional cumbersome combat sequence. It also feels like a much stronger remake than even Yakuza Kiwami, which was no slouch to begin with. It also has some solid ties to both Yakuza 0 via the new elements, and pre-existing story beats that feed into the more recent Yakuza 6. So check this one out when you get a chance, you will not be disappointed.

Everything from the improved combat, to the minigames and more of the returning and new extra side content in Yakuza 2/ Kiwami 2! I am so happy that I played this game for 14 hours straight, and the best part of this game is the new moves and heat actions as well as for the story and my god I really loved the story in this game it is probably one of the best in the series in my book and its really good than 0's story especially when the story was a little darker and more connected from the Jingwoen Mafia and Goda Ryuji the best rivalry/ antagonist ever in the Yakuza series. But overall I really have nothing to complain about the game other than the fact that Majima's story was very short but that's about it. Anyway, it's a fantastic game I highly recommend it!

Having never played the original Yakuza 2 for the PS2 (my entering point in the series was Zero, then Kiwami, then a leap to 6 and now thisHaving never played the original Yakuza 2 for the PS2 (my entering point in the series was Zero, then Kiwami, then a leap to 6 and now this one), I have to say this is the best experience I've had with the series so far. In my personal opinion, the story is the best of all the ones that I've played and, although more streamlined when compared to Zero and Kiwami, I felt the combat experience to be the most responsive yet (you "feel" every punch and kick you throw during battles). Exploration is also even more rewarding this time, with a perfect mix between new attractions and the revamped fan-favorites that have been a staple of the series. Because of its accessibility, I'd say this is certainly a Yakuza not only for long-time fans of the series, but also for newcomers alike.

Just like a show, the second season has to contend with the apparent success of its predecessor, and it’s clear that the writers on Yakuza 2 may not have known how to extend that deeply personal tale for another 40 hours.
