Generally a very fun game. As a "Yakuza" fan, it was exciting to see appears of characters from the series. The story was well-written, although there were some Japanese cliches in the story. (not being able to save a character because you are late, or as seen in the other games, getting shot only because of dropping your guards and your gun down) That did not bother me too much as I just accepted the fact that it is a part of the culture and a form of art. The side missions were very enjoyable to me as well.However, the presentation of the story was kind of annoying for me. There were voiced cutscenes, non-voiced scenes, and voiced comic-book-style panels. This was more cheap than artistic to me. I felt like that was done only to cut the budget down. It did not serve any purpose, at least not that I could notice.

The gameplay though, it's enjoyable and overall good, but it does get repetitive, you don't really unlock any new moves after the first few hours in the game. The side content is more than enough, there is a lot you can do such as play arcade games, sing in the karaoke, dance in the disco club & maaany more, and there are also some interesting side stories. I got to say, I'm very happy I finally played this game, it was a fantastic experience.

This game will go from super serious to slapstick comedy moment in the blink of an eye and that's what I love about it. The only negative I can think of is the fact that getting the fourth styles for Kiryu and especially Majima are incredibly tedious, time consuming, and boring. I mean once you get them they're fun as heck, but if you want them, you're gonna be playing this game for a long long time. If you just wanna do the main story, and the side stories though, you'll have absolutely nothing but a blast in this game.

Yakuza 0 is already one of the greatest experiences on PlayStation 4, and now it is one of the best on Xbox One too. It may not have many enhancements for gamers who play on X, but it was already a looker, with a high frame rate to begin with. This is one of the glitziest and brightest games out there, and not relying on the most advanced technology meant the team could push an older engine to new heights. Dropping 40 hours means not even seeing half of what Yakuza 0 has to offer. It is a huge package of value that seemingly never stops giving.

Today, three years after Western release on Xbox One, Yakuza 0 still translates well as an engaging and fun experience, particularly for those who love a good story. The graphics are slightly dated but nothing to be upset about, and only the somewhat foreign notion of the invisible wall cutting off stairways and paths is the only thing to be a bother. This mechanic has been changed over the years so to see it still thriving here immediately dates the game, but none of this is enough to make for a bad experience. If you enjoy the Yakuza franchise or need a jumping off point to get into the franchise, Yakuza 0 is a fantastic place to start.

The Xbox One version looks just as good if not a little better than its PS4 counterpart. It runs at a higher resolution and the world feels alive. It still has markings of its PS3 building, but it looks great regardless. I cannot wait to play Kiwami and Kiwami 2 on Xbox as well, as I never got a chance to finish those when they originally released. If for some reason you have not experienced the series there has never been a better time. The PS4 version is always on sale, it is in Game Pass for both Xbox and PC. Do not hesitate, play Yakuza and join me in experiencing one of the most unique and interesting games of the generation.

It may take a while to get going at first for new players, but get over that first hour of pretty much just cutscenes and the game completely opens up into one of the finest examples of storytelling in gaming. You can only save at payphones in the open world. If you just finished an hour long level and sat through an hour long cutscene and your game crashes or the power goes out you'll lose all your progress. A lot of people said they had stuttering issues but I didn't get any of those and my PC is almost 7 years old so I don't know what's causing that.

I’ve steered clear of Japanese games since I figured out long ago they’re not my cup of tea. But Yakuza is something else. It was my first contact with the series and although at first I did mind the fact that it trails behind Western competition in many aspects, I quickly ceased to notice it. I know it’s an overused cliché, but damn, Yakuza has a soul! And an exceptional story, one of the best I’ve experienced in games since I started playing them almost thirty years ago. Even if you avoid Japanese games, do yourself a favour and give Yakuza 0 a chance, because it is ridiculously fun and you need to experience it too.

A remarkable debut in all of its different aspects that will certainly be appreciated by those who are yet to test the franchise. It is a perfect conversion to PC that has undoubtedly earned SEGA some praise, although the lack of Spanish language is still an issue.

It feels weird to experience the franchise that called Sony consoles a home on the PC for the first time. Having said that, the port is extremely polished and should be a good indication for things to come.

Even though the Yakuza series is more than 10 years old, Yakuza 0 feels like a fresh new start on PS4. The fact that the story takes place before Yakuza 1 makes Yakuza 0 the perfect starting point for new gamers. The game takes place in an incredible recreation of Japan near the end of its "Bubble Economy" and makes gamers feel as if they are in Japan during that time. The game manages to be both very serious and incredibly funny and, cherry on the cake, gives players a ton of things to do. Yakuza 0 is truly one of the better episodes of the series.

Yakuza 0 is a terrific game, packed with a simple structure but extremely rich in content. The campaign tells a long, deep, violent story, with two charismatic characters and a whole lot of enemies to fight.

Yakuza 0 feels a bit like an anime that also happens to be an action/fighting game. The only problem is that the fighting feels dated, though the environmental options and multiple fighting styles to master help to spice things up a little. A genuinely entertaining and captivating story lurks in the seedy underworld of Tokyo, where a miniscule empty lot somehow sparks a massive conflict.

Yakuza 0 takes it back to where it all began, but a mildly interesting setting and story don’t quite make up for the game’s more tedious elements.
