The Quarry is my all-time favorite interactive choice game, it felt the most like playing a movie out of any interactive choice game I've played heavily due to the writing and performances and loved the classic horror movie feel. The writing was outstanding, the story was very enthralling, the character development was great and I loved how the majority of the characters fit partially into the very tired traditional character tropes especially tropes featured in the horror genre like Jacob the jock or Dylan the jokester or Ryan the loner or Emma the popular girl but they added layers and dimension to them to make them much more then just those tired tropes, the dialogue was very natural, I loved how perfectly they juggled suspense, horror, drama, and humor, and the twist of the fortune teller being the mother of the original werewolf was great and very surprising. The performances were exceptional especially from Siobhan Williams, Justice Smith, Grace Zabriskie, Lin Shaye, Brenda Song, Ariel Winter, Zach Tinker, Halston Sage, and Miles Robbins. The graphics were excellent especially the motion capture and scenery was perfectly both creepy and beautiful but there were a few glitches. The music was superb, the song choices were perfect and the score really fueled the suspense and creepiness. Also I gotta bring up how it was nice to see a same-sex kiss between characters Ryan and Dylan, we definitely need more LGBTQ+ representation in video games. Overall The Quarry is a pretty perfect game and one of my all-time favorite games I've ever played. Also definitely playing again cause my first playthrough Emma and Jacob died so wanna get it so everyone of the counselors survive.

The Quarry is a wild ride. It manages to be a gleeful concoction of horror clichés and a substantial interactive experience. Your choices feel like they matter, as evidenced by the 186 different character endings. And with a gripping story and superb performances, this is one summer stay you won’t forget.

There’s a fairly big chunk of gameplay on offer in The Quarry and it totally deserves a replay in order for you to witness different endings and try to see if you can keep everyone alive - or kill them all.

The story is, as we have come to expect from Supermassive Games, very engrossing, shaped by the excellent characters and good cast. The gameplay is also as good as ever, making for an interesting experience that is plagued by a few illogical situations and technical glitches. Nevertheless, The Quarry is a great game to experience if you are a fan of teen horror films.

The Quarry pays homage to the slasher genre with more than just a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. Supermassive's new game follows the foundations laid by the 2015 title offering a continuist but equally fun game full of familiar faces, gore and shocking moments. The eyes need more emotion as well as the facial expressions. The most impacting characters are Kaitlyn and Dylan, the rest are almost completely emotionless, especially Ryan.

What we have here is a developer that is happy to nudge us with knowing jokes, but who doesn’t dare to frighten us. We might call it a Craven effort. As for the ending, there isn’t one—just a montage of postscripts, detailing the fates of the various characters. Only, we already know their fates, having been at least partially responsible for them. As the credits rolled, the sweetness of the humour had grown stale, and I felt distinctly unsated, though hardly hungry for more. I hate to say it, but Supermassive has made a Butterpop.

If The Quarry suffers from some obvious technical problems, especially during the first chapters, they quickly fade away in favor of an engaging plot, credible relationships and logical interactions. Aware of its origins (Until Dawn), it doesn't rest on its laurels and offers a new interactive teen-movie, much less cliché than its predecessor, which will undoubtedly delight fans of the genre. The Quarry is contemplative. Get involved, get interested in what it offers, and it will probably give you back. And remember: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Yet, it's a title that every fan should consider for their collection.

The voice acting makes no sense with the context of the scenes if you do not choose the "correct" path. The script is so badly written that some characters repeat endlessly the same insult and conflict information from the dialogue before and after some choices. The characters are completely unbearable except for one or two. The curator is annoying and keeps nagging during all the encounters (it makes sens in the story, but it is a terrible experience).If you liked until dawn, think of this game as a cheap copy with a very inconsistent script. Do not buy this game if you have anything else on your wishlist, it is too expensive for a completely unremarkable experience. If you value a good story that is well written, this game is not for you. This game will offer you a subpar terror atmosphere with extremely annoying characters and a story that is completely tainted by the worst script writing of the genre so far.

This game is such a tribute to a beloved genre that it even contains rules that will help you to survive (if you bother to learn them.) It may not be the cheapest but it sure is an experience to enjoy. Having Jason’s ‘kill, kill, kill’ motif echoing around your head as you play it is not a prerequisite but it sure is fun.

The Quarry is a fantastic return to form for Supermassive Games. Every character stands out well on their own thanks to the fun and excellent writing. The monsters and villains, while not terrifying, are a very cool take on the Summer Camp Horror stories that we’ve seen time and again up until now. With just a little more refinement on the rough edges, there’s no doubt this game would’ve been a top 10 horror game. Even then, The Quarry is memorable, and I highly suggest you check it out, especially with a group of friends.

The Quarry was my introduction into the Horror gaming Genre. I was delighted by the original take on werewolves the writers decided to take. The characters were impactful, and I really felt for them when they died. While I would love to give this game a perfect score, every game has its flaws. Surprisingly I only have minor issues with the game. One of my issues involves the “don’t breathe” QTEs throughout the game. They were rather easy and instead of making me nervous, I actively enjoyed these segments because all I had to do was hold the action button down until it was all clear. This really took away from the tension in my opinion. It is possible that this could be fixed in the settings, however I still can’t give a perfect score due to my other issue with the game. Warning: this next section of my review contains a spoiler. Throughout the game there were moments where I felt like characters who died ought to have survived. Many of these instances are forgivable as the horror genre has to do this at times to continue a story (just something you have to learn to accept). At one point however, Depending on your previous choices, Max gets cured from being a werewolf, after which you reach a pier and are given the choice to stay on the island or leave. Upon choosing to leave, max reaches the adjacent land pier and is then immediately killed by another werewolf. Now this wouldn’t be a problem normally, however the werewolves in this game hate water. So for me it was kind of poorly written that Max didn’t even attempt to fall back in the water. This is only one of a few moments I was disappointed by the “death logic”In summary this game was well worth the money and I strongly recommend anyone who’s interested to play this game for themselves.

It looks amazing, the setting is great, the story is simple but effective, and the characters are surprisingly likeable. I'm so sick of the stereotypical **** girl and the brooding-but-secretly-cool guy characters but they were written and performed well enough here that it didn't bother me. It's definitely light on gameplay, but the amount of choice and consequence throughout keeps it immersive and fairly exciting, While I didn't find it particularly scary, I really appreciate that Supermassive hires real actors, which helps you to get invested in the story. It isn't the masterpiece that I think these devs are capable of, but I had a lot of fun with it and loved the whole mood and pace of the storytelling. Characters like Laura and Max, Dylan, Travis Hackett, even Abi and Ryan (who grew on me), were all great and really had me hooked on their respective narratives.The one big downside is that I kept thinking how i just paid CAD$90 on a game that lasted 2 evenings. It would be amazing if it was a full-length, 20+ hr game that spans many days. I would totally follow the camp throughout the whole summer as a slow burn mystery starts to unfold. I imagine in the future Supermassive will go beyond the single-night story and maybe adapt a great horror book into a long, epic story where you follow characters in their lives and things slowly start to unravel and go nuts. Same story as Until Dawn, really not worth playing.

The Quarry is the Supermassive game I've been looking for since Until Dawn. It is well-paced, well-told, and - most importantly - genuinely spooky. Some odd characterisations and inconsistent graphics let it down slightly, but this is the most fun I've had with a game like this in some time.
