After finding out about this game, I decided that it was the time to watch the whole Samurai Jack after all those years. It seems just seemed so cheap. The same NPCs that are scattered around and that give you random weapons (why?), the weird-looking cutscenes. The same enemies are recycled over and over throught the whole game without any variation to the gameplay. I just expected much more from this game

You need to be familiar with the animated series to fully enjoy Battle Through Time, otherwise you’ll find the game to be rather unexceptional and confusing. As a huge Samurai Jack fan, I was delighted with both the nostalgic journey and the story it offered me, even if sometimes the camera was unbearable.

You can tell that the game studio was made up of true fans who poured their love for the show into this game. Sure, at its core, Battle Through Time is a retelling of the TV series with some deviations, but it absolutely nails what makes Samurai Jack a modern animated masterpiece, and it was a delightful surprise to play through.

Jack is back, with a story fans will love, a welcome return of the original voice cast and surprisingly deep gameplay. The graphics are plain ugly though and the price tag rather steep, especially if you consider the game's short length.

It has nothing else to offer other than okayish combat and half-way through it feels like an empty, shallow and unfinished game. Story is almost non-existent. Side-characters are there just as props that you run into occasionaly to repeat generic babble at you and give you an item.Upgrades are kind of unsatisfying and getting them is a horrible grind. I finished the game with barely 1/3 of the upgrades unlocked.It's somewhat fun if you're a big fan of Samurai Jack, but not a great game.

Боевка она с одной стороны разнообразна,но кроме магического меча все остальное,ну такое и оно ломается.Есть еще притензия к некоторому импакту от оружия,но это можно привыкнуть.2.Босы есть интересные,есть не очень.Вообщем хорошая игра на 10 часов.8/10

This doesn't work too well when it constantly throws enemies at you in large numbers. In fact it does this most of the time and gets really old, that's the whole game really besides boss fights which aren't too hard or interesting.--Another thing I didn't care for was the constant closing/opening gates which is an animation you have to watch every time after defeating said hordes of enemies, there are a few other annoying animations of doors opening etc that you have to watch, breaks up the flow way too much.---Your weapons degrade and need repairing which is an uninteresting way of managing difficulty and also of making it seem to be a longer game than it is. For the simple game that this is this is an unwelcome addition for sure and out of place.- Annoying menu UI etc also doesn't help. No save control, it's all auto and you have to choose the save to continue, why? Like a PS2 game you have 3 slots and you can choose the other two but that's just to start a new game.--Played fine at high settings, you really need to use a gamepad for best results as I did.--I can't really comment on the story and how it relates to the tv series, I watched a season or two back in the day but was never a big fan.--Way overpriced at forty dollars, for that same amount you can get recent or older games that have a wealth of better gameplay and more gameplay. Cash grab. I could see 20-25 bucks for fans of the series everyone else just pass on this.-I'd also like to say that metacritic's embargo on user scores until 36 hours after release is fine BUT please apply that to the game sites as well because they don't play the whole game in most cases before reviewing either and they are VERY much influenced by game publishers to give unrealistic scores through advertising dollars and other forms of bribery. But of course money talks don't it.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a great-playing game that falls just a bit short of being a well-crafted overall experience. The filler-filled stages and wave-based enemy rooms bog down the experience and get in the way of the fun. It’s a shame too as the core gameplay greatly exceeds the norm for licensed fare and delivers well-crafted swordplay, gunplay and melee combat all in one package. Beating up enemies is satisfying, but tackling waves of them in a weirdly laid-out labyrinth chips away at things. The graphical design is sharp and nicely matches the show, but is hurt by low-quality texture work from time to time. The sound design is top-shelf and not only fits the show, but makes you appreciate playing with a nice audio setup to better-discern enemy locations. Fans of the show will enjoy the game, while those just looking for a well-crafted action game may be disappointed.

At the normal difficulty level you have to be really unscrupulous to incur the game over screen and the five hours+ necessary to complete the campaign slip away without leaving much. Although the graphics seem really dated, as well as the level design, everything appears very faithful to the original cartoon. If you are passionate about Samurai Jack, then, you might perhaps turn a blind eye.

Even though I’d not seen an episode of the show before playing I was really rather taken with Samurai Jack: Battle Though Time. It looks great, the combat is fun and fluid, there’s lots to do with upgrading Jack’s abilities, and lots of replayability with the different difficulties and scores to beat. A great game all round and one worth checking out.

If we look into the game mechanics Weak and strong attacks can be weaved together for light combos, along with a dash (which evolves into a roll), a block mechanic (which can be altered to parry and counter) and a double-jump. There's also multiple options for you to change between melee and ranged weapons but I need to say that weapons really break easy Well to be honest the game giving me the vibes of the old action-RPG games era it's really fun to play yet it's nothing more than a side kick for your game library. It might be really fun with a cup of coffee than you'd probably forget about it .But It's absolutely fun and worth a look for your Xbox One.

However the praise ends there, as the game itself is extremely simple for a spectacle fighter, somewhat stiff on the controls especially compared to other spectacle fighters like Beyoneta and Devil May cry. The level design, while pretty, can sometimes choke up the frame rate a bit, cutscenes contain plenty of noticeable texture pop-ins, and animations are very canned and repetitive. What little gameplay there is, is inoffensive and sometimes even satisfying at times, but the extremely short story mode and 40 dollar price tag may not make this game worth it to anyone who isn't a fan.To anyone who is a fan, its not bad, and theres plenty of fan service and the game is easy to get into while being challenging enough to not be boring.

Story and character do not drive the action like in Tartakovsky’s series — air flips and fist punches do. A sense of exhaustion sets in almost immediately, while a hunger to get just a little more Samurai Jack in my life kept me soldiering on. By the standards of tie-in games, that feels like a success.

It may feel like it’s a few years too late, but Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a worthwhile experience that properly celebrates a beloved IP while being a darned good action game in its own right. A striking art style, well-executed combat mechanics, and a challenging level of difficulty make this one an easy recommendation, but with the caveat that it’s a little light on original ideas and that performance can often dip to sub-par levels. It may not be perfect, but Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time acts as a great companion piece to the legendary cartoon; don’t dismiss this as just another tie-in.

With there being so much of it, its clunky nature drags the game down a fair bit. Still, if you’re a huge Samurai Jack fan who wants to spend some more time with the character, it’s worth a play. But if you have experience with the likes of Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, you will find its gameplay lacking.
