Almost whole chapter taken by LARP that was sure, enjoyable, but at the end - again - pointless for the character development and the storyline. Alex's power is useless and terribly written. At one point she cannot cope with that, but after few days, she can master her abilities. And somehow everyone has much more emotional depth than Alex even if its her who can empathize with everyone. The ending is terrible and feels rushed as we learn almost nothing new throughout the game, apart of the very last chapters. I've played the game thanks to GamePass and overall enjoyed it very much (much, much less than 2 previous games though), but if I had payed 60USD for that, I would have been extremely mad. Not worth it at all.

Certainly the discovery and exploration around your character’s powers and then the process of trying to resolve the game’s central mystery in this humble Colorado town are compelling, but without the depth of the characters being there I don’t think the whole package would work as well. I’ve seen plenty of people bemoaning how the game’s gorgeous visuals have had to be compromised on the Switch, and I suppose since this is a full-priced game if you have the option of playing it on another platform (and you don’t mind the lack of the convenience of portability) that would be a reasonable choice. Life is Strange: True Colors is the best game in the series so far, without a doubt. The town of Haven Springs is full of excellent characters, with Alex Chen herself being one of the best protagonists we’ve seen in some time. The game does suffer from some pretty severe visual downgrades with the Switch release, and some of the additional minigames left us feeling a bit cold. Nevertheless, developer Deck Nine has crafted a fantastic narrative that you’ll be eager to see through to the very end. Reduced visual fidelity aside, Switch is a great place to experience True Colors.

In the first two games there was so much exploration, so many conversations, so many choices and the chapters always felt soo long. I also hated that we got to choose who to date but we never got to experience any game play pertaining to the relationship after choosing. There just wasn't much to do or interact with.How do you go from traveling cross country in LIS 2 to limiting us to a single block in the 3rd installment? On top of that, there could've absolutely been more scenes in areas outside of this block. I honestly feel like I played a mini game and that I basically paid just for good graphics and not actual gameplay.

The end result is a remarkable, powerful game. Life is Strange: True Colors stays true to the series’ roots, using supernatural twists and an underlying mystery as the backdrop for a story that’s focused on the quiet beauty of everyday life and the connections that form between people. Within that, it carves its own path with a moving exploration of the power of empathy and the importance of finding a place to call home.

True Colors makes an extremely strong case for the best Life Is Strange game yet, with an affecting story that tackles themes such as loss and belonging and featuring the series' most likeable protagonist to date in Alex Chen. That's why I believe there are so many negative reviews on this game. Most of it is review bombing from Chinese players angry about the game's acknowledgment of Taiwan as a country. The other negative reviews have mentioned and complained about "far-left ideology", which isn't even somewhat true. There's nothing that is far-left here. You live in Colorado, you can choose a gay relationship if you wish, and there's a transgender character mentioned in the story. If you see this part of the review, you'll have more neutral viewpoints in the mixed reviews, so if you don't want any blind love on the positive side and blind hate on the negative side, you should invest time on the mixed reviews. But still, if you don't like what the game includes in its story, then don't buy it. No point in wasting money you know you won't buy, right? But if you enjoyed Life is Strange, you'll love this game too. The PC version runs at 60 fps or higher with less powerful hardware. One person was getting up to 100fps with a GTX 1080 Ti, which is inferior compared to what the Series X is running. If the "Cinematic experience" was so integral to the aesthetics of the gameplay, then why wasn't the PC locked to 30 fps as well?Frankly, this is just a terribly optimized game and there's no valid reason why this shouldn't run at 60 fps at high graphical fidelity when all but a handful of Series S|X games are hitting 1440p or 2160p at 60 fps since the console's launch.Nobody should buy Life is Strange: True Colors on Series X until the developer fixes this. Consistent writing for both main and side characters, a compelling, well paced story as well as dialogue choices that have actual consequences over the course of the five chapters, True Colors may just be the best entry into the Life Is Strange series.

Life is Strange: True Colors opens phenomenally well and then somehow loses its way, never really knowing if it wanted to tell a cheesy conspiracy story or dive completely into slice-of-life territory. I wish it chose an identity. Most of all, I wish it took some chances. I don’t want to say the series is growing stale, but there’s certainly a careful balance needed between giving fans what they expect and reinventing some aspect of itself. This is a cool world to get lost in over a weekend, but it may float on by as a passing phase.

The game is way too slow at the beginning and rushed at the end. The superpower is quite irrelevant and useless. You learned a lot by accessing the past events through designated objects but have no use for that information. You can absorb people's emotions but you can do it twice throughout the game with no consequences. You rarely have a chance to use your power, and most of it is insignificant. You don't establish a real connection with anyone except the one you romanced, and it's so obvious. At the end of the game where you confront Jed, those who decided to help you later on sit awkwardly silence at the beginning. To the point that I feel Alex is totally alone in this scenario, despite her running around trying to help people. I helped Charlotte on the biggest role with Ethan, I helped Eleanor by telling Riley about her condition and her tasks in flower shop, I helped Mac's relationship and his mental breakdown, I helped Riley for telling the truth about Eleanor, I helped Ryan from suicidal thought, and I helped Ethan for his boring long game. What did I get in return? NOTHING, because most of them didn't even show up; they just... disappeared. These characters are extremely selfish, and what is the point of helping them except keeping the game longer. At the end, I decided to **** this town and left with Steph, and the game gave me an unsatisfied ending. NO ONE, those I helped, even go out and say good bye; even Gabe disappeared after my decision without words. NO ONE CARE ABOUT YOU. Improved graphics and good musics, but too many plot holes. A total waste of time.

I’ve been pretty much bowled over by Life is Strange: True Colors - the story, characters, and themes have really managed to strike a chord. Others might find the tone and writing not to their taste and that's fine, but I don't think anyone can deny that the team behind it have progressed their art form and game-making skills in a positive direction with this latest addition to the franchise. Long may it continue.

It is rare when I find a game that tries to capture real people and nails it so well. Every aspect of Life is Strange: True Colors — from the dialogue to the characters to the paths they took — is real and vivid, and I fell in love with all of it almost immediately. If the ending doesn’t get people talking for the next several months, we’ve failed as a society because the entire final two chapters were impossible to look and walk away from. The game is an absolute gem and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Life Is Strange: True Colors fills my heart with the same sensation. Then breaks it in the most bittersweet way I could imagine. Alex’s story is a colourful tapestry, stitched together with the gossamer thread of what it means to be human. It’s a glimmering, supernatural journey that reminds you life really is… weird.

Life is Strange: True Colors is the largest and most ambitious chapter in the Square-Enix series, but it does not reach the narrative depth of the previous chapters.

Life is Strange: True Colors lives up to the bar of the saga and deals with the subject of emotions in a responsible and realistic way. It's BSO is wonderful and despite having some bugs, the overall result is neat and we will enjoy it.

Life is Strange: True Colors presents a tale of empathy as you witness a town struggle to deal with a tragic event. I enjoyed my time in Haven, especially when seeing the world through the eyes of different characters and the ending presented an interesting twist. However, it's all over quickly and the mystery-solving portion is lackluster but it's an ultimately rewarding experience.

True Colors is a fantastic narrative experience, filled with rich characters and taking place in a beautiful, enchanting world. It is heartfelt and at times powerful, touching on the nature of grief, loneliness and belonging. True Colors will delight fans of narrative games, but is unlikely to win over the doubters. You probably know if you’ll like this one, and I’m here to tell those people that they won’t be disappointed.

Life is Strange: True Colors is just as much a story about Asian American heritage, mental illness, broken homes, and systemic failure as it is a drama centering around dealing with loss, regrets, and trauma. Alex, up until the events of the game, is forced to hide her emotions for fear of alienating everyone around her and appeal to potential foster homes. She despises her father—a first-generation Chinese immigrant—for leaving her and her brother after their mother died from an illness. Alex calls herself “broken,” and it’s only until she reunites with her brother Gabe that she finally begins the process of healing.

With its emotional gut-punching story, memorable and wonderfully crafted characters, and a beautifully designed setting that immerses you deeply into its world, Life is Strange: True Colors is a superb entry into the Life is Strange series. While the game's conclusion does come just slightly too quickly, and some technical issues spoil the show, you won't regret experiencing Alex Chen's story. Simply put, Life is Strange: True Colors is a must-play.

Life is Strange: True Colors is the best adventure in the LiS franchise, by far. A warm story about empathy, and the effect of it, that will leave a mark in your soul.

Of the Life is Strange games I've completed (2 is still woefully unfinished for me atm), True Colors is my favorite. It strikes the perfect balance of focus on Alex as a person, the town of Haven Springs as a community, and how the two interact and change each other. While I'm still not sold on the superpowers as a mechanic or narrative device, they're unobtrusive enough to be fine, and do provide more to actually do besides walking around, looking at things and talking to people. If you liked previous entries in the Life is Strange series, you'll probably enjoy this one. It's a tighter, cleaner take on the formula, but at its heart, it's still the balance of magic and mundane that’s become signature to these games.

Life is Strange: True Colors isn't perfect, but it's exactly what fans of the franchise needed. Deck Nine has hit the mark and has taken command of the saga with a powerful story and a protagonist to remember.

Life is Strange: True Colors is another good installment in the series. However, there are some flaws. The setting is far too small and you will find yourself visiting the same locations time after time. Next to that, there are some flaws in the story. Although the writing is good, the game loses focus once in a while and lets you LARP instead of looking for clues. Overall it's just a good popcorn game, but not more than that.

Life is Strange: True Colors may sadly dim towards the end, but it’s worth checking out alone just to experience Haven Springs, with its gorgeous scenery, terrific cast of characters both major and minor, and an intriguing mystery that requires quite a bit of fun gameplay.
