But there are some good things, it has good boss design, areas and enemies are actually creative. Overall, its clear that the reason for this is the low budget the game received. And unfortunately the game didnt sold well, now the hope for an ending for the franchis dont looks like its coming soon

Unfortunately, also moreso than its predecessors, this iteration feels like it is pushing the limitations of the Switch a bit harder, showing some cracks visually and in terms of performance at times, though if you’re game they’re not so bad that they can’t be worked with. While I do appreciate the level design, feeling absolutely full of nooks and crannies to distract yourself with some exploration, the lack of a map is also both odd and, at times, aggravating as it is easy to get lost and burn time simply moving around. I realize this review can basically be boiled down to “I liked Darksiders III, and here’s several paragraphs on why it wasn’t that good” — and even I see the contradiction. But honestly, the game is so shallow that that’s really what you need to know about it. Darksiders III is fun in small bursts, but also very shallow, and the more of it you play, the shallower it feels.

Third time's not the charm in the case of Darksiders III, which is a - mostly - mediocre third entry in a line of games that weren't really that great to begin with. The quality of the Switch port doesn't help either, not so much because of its downgraded visuals, but because of its severe frame rate dips, and long load times, something that plagued the original versions as well. At least Fury looks cool…

Darksiders III is a good action and adventure title that, although its story has unfinished aspects, will appeal to most of its fans. It is far from being the best game in the franchise and the Switch port can be improved, but it is enjoyable and includes two DLCs.

The storyline is decent and gets you pleasantly through the title. Although some elements in the game take some getting used to, you'll get used to it after a while and get along well with it. In addition, many expansions are included in the new version for the Nintendo console. If you can handle a few minor flaws in the game's balance, Darksiders 3 is a really entertaining game on the Nintendo Switch.

Outside of the obvious omission of a map, the simple act of playing Darksiders III is fun, challenging, and rewarding. The Switch port, save for the expected visual downgrades, is on par with the originally targeted systems. The only problem is it never ran particularly well on those systems either. If anything the Switch version actually improves on some elements of the original performance, but it can still be a bit of a rough ride. This was always a game that required more powerful hardware to push through its shortcomings and the Switch obviously can’t totally deliver on that. At the same time, with slightly faster loading and solid handheld performance, I’d probably still take this over going back to the original Xbox One version.

At first, the Switch version seems fine enough. A clear visual downgrade, but it’s all running reasonably smoothly. But once you start getting to busier battles, more crowded areas, and situations with more chaos, everything comes unglued. The framerate flies all over the place, which is bad in a game whose chief combat gimmick is timed dodging. It hitches up at times, and flatout stops in the middle of the action to do whatever. I recognize the technical challenges in realizing this port on this hardware, but if this is the best that could be mustered, it perhaps should not have been done. We’re left with a heavily troubled port of a rather middling game, and I don’t know that filling in the story gaps is worth dealing with that.

Darksiders III on Switch is a poor port of a distinctly average entry in the series. Constant technical issues make fighting and platforming more frustrating than fun, long loading times follow every death and the further along you get, the worse these issues seem to become. It's a shame as we're pretty big fans of the series in general, but if you have any other means of playing this one we'd advise you give this clunky version a miss.

Im a big fan of the first 2 games and I really enjoy how they change up the game play for each one. I would rank the series 1, 3, 2 so far. I felt Furry was a cool character and she has a good story to prove herself among the other horsemen, but I still like war and death more as the main character. I really enjoyed the darksouls play style which really added a much needed difficulty level to the series. The metroid level design was a great addition as well, no maps just a compass to direct you to the next sin. On the way to defeating each sin there are many secrets and collectibles to find that make you want to search every corner of the map. The environments look amazing definitely best in the series. The gameplay is tight and well responsive the dodge window is well done and once you get the timing down on enemies you will be smashing your way through them. The boss battles are all amazing and remember-able, each sin has their own unique move set and personality based on their names. Fury will unlock 4 different weapons besides her main whip throughout her journey and each one has their own unique moves set. The only reason I didnt give Darksiders 3 a 10 was because the loading times while playing would pause you mid whatever your doing and load. Also the frame rates would drop low while in a heavily populated area. I bought Darksiders 3 on sale for $20 and to me was worth every penny, I would of gladly paid more.

There’s precious little to elevate Darksiders 3 to the level of the previous two games, let alone its peers in 2018. It’s a game that offers few surprises, few challenges, and few moments of greatness. What it does, it does to a satisfactory level and never kicks on from there. But there’s something about Darksiders 3 that still sort of works though. It’s a B-tier production, without a shadow of a doubt, but it’s the sort of thing that doesn’t actually come along all that often these days. Fans of the series will no doubt get a kick out of the continuing story and there’s just enough here to help Darksiders 3 stand out and make for an entertaining playthrough.

Finished Nioh's campaign +3. Played Monster Hunter World 200+ hours. Witcher 3 twice. AC Origins and Odyssey once each. DMC 3 multiple times, DmC twice, and DMC 4 multiple times. I know what makes and breaks games like these. And no, this is not simply an issue of GITTING GUD.Darksiders III wants to be Dark Souls, but it doesn't understand how to make a very hard game very fun.Dueling and studying opponents. DSouls is all about dueling and studying enemies. It's all about learning your opponent's moves, circling each other, patiently waiting for an opportunity to strike. DSouls is decidedly slower. There's ample time to react. While the animations and sounds are rather visceral, damage is reasonable such that you can survive long enough to learn a thing or two about your opponent before dying. There are multiple ways to mitigate or even outright deny damage (dodge, parry, block). DSouls gets all the aforementioned elements right. But DSiders gets all these elements horribly wrong.Let's break it down. First, too many DSider enemies cannot be lured away from their friends. This means you're constantly fighting multiple opponents at once. That would be fine, if you had the tools to properly deal with them. You don't. Next, damage. Moderately sized enemies can absolutely CHUNK your health bar, and kill you in 3-4 hits. Next, the stagger system. Fury (your character) will stagger against all attacks. It is entirely possible to be stun-locked for 2-3 seconds and die outright. One way to mitigate frustration over staggering in games is to implement a knock-back system (DMC, MHW, WIII, AC:O, etc.), where if the player takes a particularly powerful hit or too much damage in a short time, the player flies backward, with some i-frames. This helps kind of reset the battlefield, giving you a second to recollect yourself. There is no knockback system in place in DSiders, which seems like a really basic thing to add to a game where you're constantly facing high-damage mobs. Next, lacking tools to manage mobs. For example, Odyssey gives you CC abilities to help manage the battlefield. DMC allows you to juggle your opponents in the air to allow you to deal damage to a single target while keeping safe from most enemies. DSiders offers no inventive and fun ways to manage mobs. You have your basic combos, and power moves...and that's it. Next, mob attack cycles. In DSiders enemies seem to be programmed to attack as often as possible, and also when you attack them (I've tested this second behavior thoroughly). On paper this doesn't sound so bad, but when you factor in the damage levels, the stagger system, and the lack of player tools, what you have is a frustrating stunlock mess. A game that handled this well is Nier: Automata. Enemies could attack you whenever they want, BUT there was a red flash in their eyes indicating it was time for you to dodge. At first this seems like hand-holding, but when you factor in the sheer number of enemies on-screen, attack-warnings are only fair. DSiders has no attack-warnings. Next, attack speed. Enemies attack FAST in this game. To make matters worse, the same enemy will have 2-3 different combos with different wind-up times. DSiders should have taken a page from Nier if they wanted attack speeds to be this unforgiving. Otherwise, they should have mimicked DSouls attack speeds, specially since you are swarmed more often in DSiders. Next, the nerfed dodge mechanic. DSiders II dodge was too powerful; it was 3 successive short leaps. This time they nerfed it to the ground, making it a single dash, with a LONG recovery time between dashes. This does not at all synergize with how often mobs attack. Next, perfect evade reward. In Nier, perfect evade = a free attack on enemies. In DSiders, you can get hit during the free attack, leaving you with literally NO OPTIONS to attack safely.Taking each element individually, it all seems fine...but when you put it all together you get the mechanical mess that is Darksiders III. All in all the game gives you very, very little opportunity to study your opponents per life. A full health bar is 3-4 hits, and each potion gives you 1-2 hits of HP back. All in all you can take about ~8 hits total before dying. Remember that getting stunlocked is commonplace in this game, so one hit can easily lead to another 3-4 hits in succession. You die very often, and learn so very little per death. Even after learning so much, you realize so much of the game is very random because of how you and the mobs work. Victory is less about mastery, and more about luck. Luck-reliance is a sign of a VERY bad game.Stay away. RIP Darksiders franchise.

Darksiders, when it was released, became the definitive example of a sleeper hit, and like the Phoenix that arises from the ashes, Darksiders III has been resurrected in a fashion that lays the ground work for a tremendous conclusion to the series should we get Darksiders IV and the final chapter of the horsemen and the apocalypse. If you're a fan of hack and slash adventure games with an incredible story, then this should be on your list of must have games to purchase.

It excels in many ways from fast and challenging combat to well-designed boss fights and good level design. The only problem is that it feels like the "lite" version of all of its inspirations, offering a taste of a masterpiece instead of a new take on those archetypes. You'll get Dark Souls without the measured combat, Bayonetta without the intricate weaving of combos, Castlevania with far fewer utility abilities to learn, and Zelda with puzzles that are far too easy for most. Still, what's taken from each of those games is mostly good, which makes Darksiders III a successful comeback story.

Sure, it’s not as polished as the likes of God of War, but I don’t care. When Darksiders III works well, it’s just as entertaining. I love its character and enemy designs; its world draws you in and surprises you with the way all of its environments are linked together; and it really does have some epic boss fights. Throw in some light puzzling and an engaging story, and you have a no-frills adventure game that somehow feels fresh.

The problem is that this difficulty makes normal enemies far harder then they should be making it frustrating to get to the boss. The next complain is that the story has not been as engaging as in the first or second Darksiders game. It starts very slowly and makes an attempt to pick up pace in the latter stage of the game but as things become very interesting the game ends. This has not been a game made by a AAA team which excuses the story in some part. With a new team making Darksiders, the game shows great potential for future games.

Not quite the triumphant return long-time fans had hoped for but nevertheless, Darksiders III is an enjoyable and worthy entry in the series. The biggest issue here is that newcomers will likely find Fury and her world a little too unwelcoming. To those of us who have already shared the trials of War and the journey of Death, delivering Fury’s wrath is a satisfying if somewhat guilty pleasure.

Darksiders III is a bittersweet episode in the series of the Horsemen that proposes a new and more demanding approach in combat, but remains halfway to a notable game for the lack of rhythm and the loss of elements such as exploration and puzzles. I am a big fan of the Darksiders franchise and this one is no exception. By no means is it perfect though. There are common frame drops and dodging seems inconsistent at times. Darksiders 3 is a very good game and i would recommend to almost anyone interested in these types of games.

Combat is hard, often unfairly so, but get into the groove and it’s also very satisfying. Exploring the environments can yield extra challenges, with powerful rewards for success, but a few more tantalizing glimpses of areas beyond your abilities wouldn’t have gone amiss. If you enjoyed the previous entries and have been waiting to see what Fury can do, you’ll find the wait has mostly been worth it. Just be prepared for a challenge.

The game is a nightmare to play through, with an unlikable protagonist, a chugging frame rate, and a mountain of bugs. It’s completely and utterly broken, but even when it works (which is almost never), it amounts to nothing more than a below average hack-and-slash with some decent puzzles.

Once again, the Horsemen offer us a masterpiece. Darksiders III, even with all the fear and skepticism behind the game, has managed to become a superb hack ‘n’ slash. The personal journey of Fury against the Seven Deadly Sins is simply amazing, and everything is set towards the future for Strife to come and end this awesome epic.
