I was looking for something to scratch that XCOM itch that I was craving, and I can confidently say that Wasteland 3 not only gave me exactly what I was looking for, but it gave me SO much more than I ever expected. It’s now my favorite game of this genre, and the best RPG I’ve played in a while. Think of it like Fallout with the open world exploring and looting, but with a more fleshed out XCOM combat system. It has so much depth and creative choices that I can assure you every playthrough will be completely different. I can’t get over on slept on this game is, and it’s miles better than Wasteland 2 in my opinion, which honestly I didn’t play too much of. Having a full voiced cast makes a huge difference, and I love the story and characters. The developers deserve endless praise for this game, and I’m excited to see what comes next. Do NOT pass this up if you’re looking for a game that has everything I mentioned above.

This is a really good game. It has it’s flaws for sure but I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it. It stays pretty faithful to the genre butThis is a really good game. It stays pretty faithful to the genre but I feel like there are some glaring issues that hold it back from being truly great.First, I played this on Xbox One and I can say that it is absolutely easily the most unstable game I’ve ever played. I can’t even count the number of times it crashed on me. I would guess around 30 times but I lost count. This is really unfortunate because this game also suffers from incredibly long load times so each crash results in you just sitting around and waiting for a while. The load times were improved by a recent patch but are still pretty long which can be irritating when traversing multiple levels quickly.Another issue I have with the game is it’s rather odd combat mechanics. There’s nothing really groundbreaking here. It’s very much like previous iterations or other popular tactical turn based games like XCOM. You can sneak attack to open up engagements or the enemy can fire on you first. In either case it results in usually one team taking its turn completely and then the other team reacting. The problem with this is most of the late game enemies hit incredibly hard. Meaning if the enemy team goes first, they can wipe you out or, most likely, decimate your team and leave you with a few surviving members before your first turn. All this results in is a bunch of save scumming until you get the opening that you need to win the fight. It’s an unfortunate side effect of the system they’ve chosen here.On that note, while there are a variety of characters to choose from, I felt like it was always a disadvantage to change out characters as you spend your time making each member of your team a specialist in a few areas so you can cover all fields. When a new member comes in, they are already leveled up to some extent and have their own specialties which can really mess with your team synergies. The result is I very rarely even considered changing members since I already had my specialists picked out and leveled up the way I wanted them. And since there’s no perma death, you can roll with the same team for the entire game without issue. It’s a shame because there are some interesting playable characters you meet later but you just don’t need them by that point.Even with all these issues, I still really enjoyed this game. The story and the lore is rock solid. The choices you make feel like they really matter (and there are some tough choices to make!) and the ending changes drastically based on your decisions. If you are a fan of tactical turn based shooters, don’t pass this up, it’s a great game. Just be ready for some irritating bugs and gameplay mechanics.

Wasteland 3 is an excellent RPG by keeping the spirit of the original, while also borrowing from Xcom. While the load times get in the way sometimes, there is no denying that you need to play this game if you love a great story with an edge.

Wasteland 3 is an absolute blast. The well balanced, if unforgiving, difficulty feels pitch perfect for the story and world. It is funny, harrowing and at times even verging on dark, telling a compelling tail of surviving in this terrifying world. Not only is the narrative great but the strategic combat centric gameplay is absolutely stunning. It is impossible not to recommend this title; it is one of a kind.

Some small issues aside, Wasteland 3 is a superb RPG and a huge step forward for inXile studio. Wasteland 3 is a classic RPG with great story and characters and challenging but fun combat system that is appealing to both new and old RPG fans.

And Wasteland 3 certainly is enjoyable. It's true to the series' roots and the proto-Fallout, and understands what it is that makes XCOM-style tactical RPGs so captivating. But most of all, it uses its sense of humour and sharp writing to keep its post-apocalypse interesting, despite how well-worn that path has become in the decades since Wasteland first hit.

Wasteland 3 succeeds on its narrative, choice system, strong characters, and compelling factions. It stumbles in its lifeless world, inconsistent presentation, familiar gameplay, and technical side – it often feels like a snow-themed reskin of Wasteland 2, with many of that title’s limitations and janky systems. Nonetheless, designer Brian Fargo has here made the best post-apocalyptic RPG since Fallout: New Vegas. It’s just not as good as the one he made 23 years ago with Fallout.

Wasteland 3 is in no way a bad or a mediocre game. You can clearly see the passion that went into it's development. You will spend hours upon hours with dozens of well thought out non-linear quests, while interacting with easy to use and well made role-playing systems, all of which gives you true old-school gaming experience. But at the same time Wasteland 3 just can't offer anything we haven't seen before, and myriad of countless technical hiccups is definitely not something we expected to see.

Sadly the game became more and more unstable as I continued to progress. So many bugs and glitches everywhere, frequent crashes in most inconvenient times... enough is enough !!! I have also encountered a bug which halts game progress altogether, the mission where you need to fight with Fishslap is bugged and the game freezes or stays indefinitely in "enemy turn". I have no idea how a game in this condition can be released, shame on you really. I am so frustrated of paying full price to this game.------------------------------------------I am playing the game on PS4 Pro and I have played around 20 hours. So far the game has crashed on me only once. Though I haven't opened half of the map yet, obviously the crash frequency might increase eventually but It is not an issue for me yet. Wasteland 3 does everything you expect from the series but in a sleeker package. From the freedom in building character abilities to your approach to the missions or which ending to strive for, there's plenty that's within your control, and those variations help if you want to play through the game multiple times. The story is interesting thanks to all of the decisions you get to make, and while your created characters don't add much personality, your companions are chatty enough to make encounters worthwhile. If you can forgive the occasional bugs, you'll find Wasteland 3 to be a top-notch RPG.

Wasteland 3 is a fantastic post-apocalyptic RPG. Great writing, satisfying, tactical combat, and a world full of memorable characters and meaningful player choice make this a no-brainer for fans of the genre. If you can look past the bugs, there's so much to love about this deliciously dark humoured excursion.

Wasteland 3 is great. Brian Fargo delivers an excellent RPG as a farewell to the old generation of consoles. This game offers tons of options to shape the world, make decisions, and suffer the consequences. Despite some flaws, Wasteland 3 also offers a good combat system and keeps the player entertained.

Wasteland 3 is treading creatively irradiated ground. The nuclear post-apocalypse has been explored to exhaustion, in video games and elsewhere, and no amount of weird factions or sex jokes can prevent it from feeling like an aged rock band on a comeback tour: the tunes are still decent, but there’s no youthful vigour.

I've never played a game that crashed as much as this so if you get it, make sure to save often. I got this on gamepass so technically free so I'm not mad about it but it is frustrating when it crashes and I forgot to save. Other than that this game is fun and very challenging. If it wasn't for bugs I'd give this maybe a 9

The visuals are a huge step up, with characters being more detailed and even having close up shots of certain characters during important conversations. There's more variety of clothing and armour designs too, as well as more choice of thumbnails for your characters. The setting is a lot more detailed, with a variety of cities, bases and a creepy desolate snowy wasteland to explore. A huge difference when exploring the wasteland is that you actually drive a vehicle this time, as opposed to moving an icon on the world map like with the previous game. The vehicle also acts as a playable character that fights alongside you and you can find various upgrades to turn it into a real death machine!With Wasteland 3 they have condensed various skills. So instead of shotguns, pistols and smg's being individual skills, they're now folded into the small guns skill. Laser guns no longer have their own skill bar. Instead they're folded into 'small', 'automatic' and 'big guns' skill bars. This means that when you level up one weapon skill bar you'll become efficient with a much bigger variety of weapons. There is no longer permanent death either. If a character enters the 'bleeding out' stage, you can revive them using AP and if they actually die, you can revive them with a specific item. This is a welcome change! There's also a lot more items to be used in and out of combat. You can set up auto machine gun turrets, laser turrets, robots, healing turrets etc and use some new healing items like med darts that you fire at injured teammates. There's also a new branch of weapons which fall under the new 'weird stuff' skill. These include things like shrink grenades, ferret launchers and mind control guns! You also now have 'strike attacks' which combines precision strikes with a super move. Basically it makes precision strikes more useful by having you charge them up and then unleash the shot as a guaranteed hit that cripples specific body parts.As with Wasteland 2 there is a huge amount of dialogue, now with a lot more voice acting! You also have unique dialogue options based on your stats and there's still a ton of choices to make that affect how conversations and quests play out. The story is a blast and there's many paths you can take, factions to encounter and decisions to make. This provides much replay value.Also as a side note, i feel like they improved the tutorials in this game a lot. They have non-intrusive tips that give you a lot more helpful info than the previous game. This will help new players dive into the game without too much trouble.Overall the only thing holding the game back is the performance issues, which is in the process of being patched. Apart from that we have a game which improves upon the previous games in a lot of aspects. Highly recommend checking this out!

Upon returning them to the squad they can suffer negative attributes and skill changes. There's also a consistent bug when navigating the inventory that your cursor can vanish entirely. Its a shame. Seems like a great game and I want to enjoy it but all these bugs make it frustrating.

It feels that inXile have hit their stride with this latest installment and have continued to flesh out the Wasteland world that is committed to individuality. Wasteland 3 is a world of open adventure, thrills and a deluge of blood. So what are you waiting for, Ranger? Get out there.

Overall I felt Wasteland 3 to be an amazing successor to a great franchise and had me addicted within the first 10 minutes of play. It offers a great and compelling story with twists and choices that matter. The characters are robust and with the gorgeous artwork that is Colorado helps to bring everything to life. The combat is great and works well and I didn’t find it tedious. The skill system offers depth of choice for making characters and brings some interesting things to the game. My only complaint really comes in the form of a few bugs, but otherwise Wasteland 3 is everything I could want in a post apoc turn based combat game with a Frozen Ferret Launcher.

A massive and detailed tactical RPG, Wasteland 3 offers so much to do. A few technical and visual issues occur, but nothing that will ruin the experience.

Raw and unapologetic, but never heartless….This is Wasteland 3, my favorite RPG in years, and quite possibly, my top game of the generation.
