While perhaps not deserving of the "Definitive Edition" moniker, the long overdue Steam edition of Warriors Orochi 3 has got everything a franchise fan needs. Characters, missions, modes, weapons, levels, costumes, crossovers, meaty story - it's all here, minus online play and a few pieces of minor DLC. Ignore its aged looks and this is some of the best hacking and slashing in the franchise, the likes of which only the licensed Legend of Zelda entries come close to.

It may seem strange releasing Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition on PC now, but as they say, better late than never. It feels archaic in some ways, but there’s no denying that even all these years later it’s still one of the best Warriors titles. And with it comprising of the base game and pretty much all of the content released post-launch, it offers a lot of bang for your buck.

If you’re a more recent starter to the Warriors formula, you’ll probably find Warriors Orochi 3 a little archaic, unrefined and mechanically simplistic. However, if you’re in any way curious about what the Warriors games used to be like, then this is the one to play. It’s an all-time classic within a series that has had something like 100 iterations over the years, and it’s good that the Ultimate Definitive Edition exist on PC, because Koei Tecmo’s effort on this one deserves to be accessible and remembered.

Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate Definitive Edition is a game that lives up to its definitive edition claim. Story and Guantlet mode can provide hundreds of hours of entertainment. The included DLC content can add up to a small fortune on other platforms, so its inclusion here is appreciated. This is arguably the best Musou game and having owned the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 versions, it can be confidently said this is the best version of Warriors Orochi 3. But it’s also debatable if there’s enough content here to justify buying if it someone owns Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate on another platform. Aside from a few extra stages most of the bonus content is either music or character cosmetics which isn’t going to be substantial enough for most people. It seems like having access to it on the go via Steam Deck would be the biggest selling point, but at the current time there’s some stuff that needs to be ironed out for that platform.

When Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is now available on Steam in its final form, this work is still fun after ten years and has a unique charm that can make you forget the heat outside your window.

Répétitif ? non, pensez donc, quelle drôle d'idée... faudrait déjà "penser" pour avoir une "idée" et dans ce jeu-là, on ne pense pas, Monsieur, on farme.Techniquement, il s'agit de l'un des jeux les plus vilains que l'on ait vus portés sur la génération PSOne avec en prime moult ralentissements avec toute cette ferme hystérique de **** soldats sino-japoniais. Les voix sont en japonais et tout le reste est en anglais. Les menus sont d'un goût des plus douteux et la musique est à se pendre (avec une corde à piano).Le niveau zéro du jeu vidéo dans toute son horreur et tenter d'y "jouer" entraîne un suicide de masse chez les innombrables neurones qui n'en croient pas leurs yeux et se lobotomisent au sabre séance tenante. Your game can have 210 fighters in Warriors Orochi 4 for PC, Xbox One and PS4 but if the COMBAT IS REPETITIVE and the story is A GIANT CLUSTER **** why should I care??? Fans of the series will chastise us for rating it so low, and that’s probably fair. If you’re a fan, you’ll enjoy it due to the sheer amount of characters on hand from all of the Warriors universes, and that over-the-top hack and slash gameplay that you already like. If you’re not already deeply involved with any of the franchises though, you’re going to find a game that is inescapably fun at times and that shows an awful lot of promise, but which is ultimately let down by some poor design decisions and some somewhat dodgy AI.

This is the definitive version of this game and those with next gen consoles and a love for the franchise should absolutely pick this up.

This Ultimate edition represents for Warriors Orochi what the Xtreme Legends Complete Edition represented for Dynasty Warriors: great content compendium of the old saga tradition but poor technological innovation for the new console generation. It's time to use tech force, Omega Force.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is like an encyclopedia of the Musou series condensed in a single game, with a metric ton of contents rendered in a rock-solid 60fps frame-rate. Its old-gen legacy is however still too strong, compromising the entire production.

If you love the genre, this is like an all-star package; and even for those a little cold on the idea of the games this is definitely worth a look.

But Orochi adds famous Samurai along with the legendary Chinese generals. How do you put Chinese and Samurai generals from different feudal eras together in one game? You throw in a story Godzilla would be proud of. Which makes perfect sense, since this series is immensely popular in Japan. The game features 145 characters you can unlock. It features a 2 player co-op and 2 player online mode. The story is fully voice acted in Japanese with English subtitles. The story won't win any prizes. The instructions are weak, but it's simple enough for anyone to learn. If you loved the Dynasty warriors series you will love this game.
