The story and it's delivery is a nice touch.I'd definitely recommend it if you like platformers but there are plenty of better ones out there.

Everything looks so... real, it feels as if you can touch it. The gameplay mechanics make puzzle solving a very satisfying experience. Every move you make with the little yarn guy, every object you move, everything feels so natural and realistic.The main protagonist is literally an adorable little doll made out of yarn and yet he/it still manages to convey human emotions throughout the whole game.The music is lovely but not properly implemented and it feels as if though it plays separately from the game on a constant loop and basically ignoring the atmosphere and the pace of the game. I found the whole experience much more enjoyable after I turned off the music completely and could really listen to every bit of ambient sound (leaves rustling, wind, rain drops) which really helped immersion.Puzzles are simple and kinda repetitive, but the game is so gorgeous that every puzzle is a joy to do. Plus, the new and innovative approach to solving puzzles by "unraveling" yarn from yourself and tying knots doesn't get old quickly.

Unravel is a platformer/puzzler, and it requires some dexterity and patience. I'm more of an adventure guy.

The OST is stunning, graphically it is superb, the game play is fun and I loved the world so much that I had to play through it again to find every secret. Who would have thought that a simple metaphor could produce such a beautiful game. This is a game that everybody should play from start to finish before they die

I spent a very long time trying to come up with a reason to mark Unravel down as a game but I just… can’t! Really, I can’t think of one negative thing to say about it. From the visuals to the audio, the smooth and responsive gameplay (and lack of glitches) to the touching story/message; there is nothing wrong with this game. Honestly, if you even slightly enjoy puzzle or platformer games, even slightly, buy Unravel. Do it.

It's beautifully made with such detail that on an aesthetic level it almost treads a line between game and art, together with the sound design it's quite therapeutic to play.In terms of gameplay it's challenging enough to keep you going but not so complex that it becomes stressful to work through - having said that, there is the odd time they could have amped up the difficulty ever so slightly (but this is a minor complaint).Honestly, my only real problem is that there's not enough of it, I'm finding myself putting down the controller for no other reason than to ration out the levels a bit.I can't see them making a sequel - it's not that kind of game - but I really hope they do so I can spend more time with Yarny. You never know, they could even throw in a friend for him with some puzzles that need two people to solve.

Unravel is an ode to cherished memories, but it doesn't create any of its own. It is gorgeous to look at and listen to, but its repetitive, sometimes laborious and frustrating, puzzles undermine the game's relaxed tone without offering much in the way of a challenge.

Most of the time Yarny will be traversing beautiful locales, but you’ll also have to visit a chemical waste dump and a house overflowing with cockroaches (which will tear Yarny apart like a school of piranhas). At moments like these, all charm of the game totally disappears.

It tells a very minimal story with very little narrative, but you get a sense of longing of days gone by through what bits you get. Pictures of a youth spent with those close to you, of those you've loved who are long since passed bring a layer of emotion, one person's story told through the game's adventures.The puzzles can be tricky, but I would by no means call any of them hard. Some of the platforming elements were finicky at points, but I never noticed anything I'd consider broken or unreliable.All in all, I'd say this is a finely crafted game that tells the story that the creators wanted to tell, but it's length and relatively simple gameplay may leave something to be desired. That said, this game is definitely worth a once over to experience something personal that they wanted to share with the world.

As a metaphor for the ties that bind a family together, Yarny and Unravel are exceptional; beautiful, and invoking a quiet contemplation, It's just hard not to wish it was a better game.

Yarny is one of the most adorable characters among the games that we played recently. Unravel has a beautiful environment but the gameplay mechanics are repeating themselves at the same time.

Cloying adorability is Unravel‘s saving grace. Propped up on a crutch constructed from mawkish sentimentality, it gets away with a fair few missteps and manages to claw together a smattering of memorable moments. This pretty shell, however, is undeniably a shell, and no amount of pretty little animations can make up for a total drought of engaging game design.

Unravel is a unique piece of art in a gaming world filled with first-person shooters and epic AAA titles. It’s not perfect, but it does a great job challenging one’s brain, while delivering some visually stunning scenery to make you forget you’re working hard to progress and push through.
