Virtual Bolivia is sometimes stunning and I often found myself staring at the beautiful views it offers for long periods of time. This is why I think it's a shame that it's filled with dullest imaginable open world experience with its chores like missions and simplistic A.I. However, they have made a good job with character and weapon customisation which is deep and well build. All that is combined with an entirely blank story that could not keep me interested even for the briefest moment. Playing with friends improves the experience but overall these things don't make a good or even a mediocre game.

Finding yourself with too much of a good thing shouldn't be bad.Long story short: this game is awesome. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The AI is great, your team follows you through complex terrain and never gets stuck. The bad ratings are probably due to the fact that people are used to being spoonfed from simplified shooters where they don't have to engage their brainpan. This one is challenging. Also, you should be aware: You have to learn to use your AI. In combat, be sure to tell them to shoot or they'll just stay defensive. You can also have them hold a position etc. Also, driving and flying with the keyboard is no good. Hook up an xbox controller to your PC then go back to kbd/mouse when on foot (first time I've ever been forced to do this, but I'm not complaining because it works very well.) The replayability of this game is enormous, I'll be playing it for years. Outstanding game!

The missions & side missions all give you a lot of freedom with how you can approach them, although the premise is generally the same: kill a person, extract a person, hack a computer, collect an item, interact with an item before a timer expires, etc. I know I'm gonna be upset once i've collected and done everything, but it's been fun overall thus-far. Playing with friends is much more fun than playing with bots, but the one benefit playing with bots over friends is the Sync Shot skill, where you can 100% rest assured that they will hit their shot when you order them to. You can clear out heavily fortified enemy locations entirely without being detected if you go about it the right way using this method. It does allow for the game to incorporate a big mental aspect with regards to planning.Also, I have not mentioned yet that the world is HUGE and the environments are beautiful. You will notice after playing a while that they did re-use some building models, but you'll generally be so caught up in what's going on around you that it becomes a moot point.

With a group of friends, Ghost Recon Wildlands will offer countless hours of fun within the vast and beautifully created version of Bolivia. If you’re going it alone, however, the repetitive gameplay and the lack of any character development and story depth offers a far less attractive package. Wildlands is a solid open-world game that is let down by an overly long and repetitive story, along with too many small bugs and niggles for it to be great.

So: good enviroment, good on alternatives, good on customization, but it lacks on music and AI.

This game is one that requires you to play with friends in order to extract the fun out of it. In single player, Wildlands is passable, but in multiplayer it shines. While the missions don’t do much in terms of variety, in playing with others, you find yourself expecting the unexpected. But the real hero is the vast open world, providing you with freedom to approach each objective in any way you wish. Yet while the open world giveth, it also taketh away. A lack of density is obvious, and meandering becomes the most frequent activity that you do.

Having hundreds of different weapon mods and customisation options are great if you’re a gun nut, but when everyone dies after a few hits it starts to lose its appeal. Instead it’s the stuff where strapping a vehicle or chopper with C4 and letting it glide into enemy territory before setting it off should have been encouraged more in the overall design. In the end, Ghost Recon Wildlands suffers because it plays things a little too safe and fails to make proper use of the gorgeous fictional world of Bolivia in a way that offers more than solid stealth shooting, fun co-op, and small bursts of player-created fun.

It feels like such a painstakingly created world could have hosted a more interesting and considered exploration of its themes. As it is, Wildlands is a vast, pretty and militaristic playground for friends to charge around in. And at that, you cannot deny its potency.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands does two things brilliantly; it provides a massive game full of content, vast environments and things to do, and it also is a hell of a lot of fun as a co-op game. The tactical nature never becomes too rigid, ensuring you stay in control of how best to tackle a mission. Story-wise, it’s a lot of little bits of storytelling to push you further on into the destabilisation of Santa Blanca, offering just enough to tide you over. All that really holds it back are a few bugs, the less enjoyable method of going it alone and not being able to utilise the cover system.

Wildlands is a bad fu.king game -- it completely fails at everything it aspires to be. It's a bad co-op game, it's a bad shooter, it's a bad open-world game, and the writing is terrible. At best, the game is boring. At worst, it's frustrating. I suppose the visuals are worthy of some praise, but you can just look at screenshots for free. I cannot recommend Ghost Recon Wildlands to anyone, unless you're directly related to someone on the development team. If that is the case, by all means, support your family! Everyone else: stay away.

However, it offers enjoyable tactical stealth gameplay set in an impressive, vast world, and provides a fun, memorable and rewarding experience in both co-op and solo playthroughs. Main missions are well-designed and offer great variety and challenge, and although the story is rather predictable, it has great presentation and ample amounts of information to support it. It is, in its core, a true Tom Clancy title and worthy successor to the Ghost Recon series.

In any other year, Ghost Recon: Wildlands would be a fine if somewhat unremarkable open-world game. By a twist of fate, it happened to release in a very crowded season for open-world games, which may make it seem pale in comparison. Where it stands out from Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon: Zero Dawn, though, is its multiplayer focus. Though I found the repetition too much, those cathartic moments of perfect planning in multiplayer are enough to warrant giving it a try, as long as you have a squad of friends to back you up.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands proves that Ubisoft has taken what they have learned from all of their previous titles and used it to work for the future. There are noticeable aspects from Rainbow Six, The Division, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry all at work here without ever making Ghost Recon feel like a copy. What may be lacking in the single player elements of the game are made up for over and over again when playing with friends. If you are on the fence about getting this to join with your buddies, bite that bullet and grab this game up. If you don’t have an online connection or anybody to play with, maybe hold off and catch it when it goes on sale.

Proof that bad writing can ruin anything, Ghost Recon Wildlands feels like the death knell for a particular style of open-world game. Occasionally great moments, like the co-op play and the Sync Shot, are sadly drowned out.

As a solo experience, it is solid but too big to keep you interested, and with random people it can be too chaotic to enjoy. Many issues, like linear progression and limited AI, that I have with Wildlands are issues rooted to the ‘open-world’ genre, and therefore not worth holding against Ubisoft. Wildlands offers a tight finesse for a shooter, and is sure to be enjoyed by gamers; however, it does little to go beyond this.

It’s quickly becoming my favorite first-person shooter of the year, thanks to its impressive landscape, captivating storyline and fully customizable characters. The short list of negatives pale in comparison its highlights. All and all, Ghost Recon: Wildlands delivers and should easily be a contender for 2017’s best first-person shooter, if not best game. It’s magnificent, unique, and certainly worth your time.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is equal parts new approach to a storied franchise and familiar and well-trod open world systems. While it doesn’t break a great deal of new ground for the genre, when played with friends this cooperative open-world game can be an amazing amount of fun. Those moments are tempered by technical mishaps and inconsistencies that can be patched, but as a result, this launch ride is going to have some technical potholes that put a damper on an otherwise excellent experience.

Despite the generic setting, and an over-abundance of Ubisoft-style menus, levels, and statistics, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is a fun, tactical, engaging shooter with plenty of depth and good AI. The freedom and nature of the open-world mission approach, while familiar to Far Cry and Phantom Pain fans, allows for some truly creative tactical experiences and enjoyable gameplay moments. Stable matchmaking and the random nature of human players make the co-op a blast as well.

Wildlands is a great mix-up of some of the best elements of Ubisoft's most prominent IPs, but struggles to find its own identity. Military-minded co-op fans will definitely want to check this out, while solo players can also expect up to 50 hours of open-world fun.
