The perfect sequel. Tango clearly absorbed all the feedback and experience from the first title and used it to create something better. TheThe perfect sequel. The Evil Within was memorable for its tough gameplay and great horror elements, but received criticism mainly for its confusing story and failure to make us care about Sebastian. The Evil Within 2 shines thanks to amazing combat mechanics, enemy variety, and resource management where every bullet mattered. The story, although still tropey at times, does a much better job of offering a goal to aim toward while making Sebastian more intriguing as a protagonist. All in all, it's a great game if you're a fan of challenging 3rd person shooters and love scary, atmospheric worlds to explore.

I literally spent over 40 hours in 1 play though, going through every nook and cranny to uncover secrets, craft materials and more. There were moments with the "Anima" ghost lady that literally scared me, whether in a tight, small room or out in the open streets. Loved the monsters and found the story intriguing. I really hope this game sold well and they will make Evil Within 3. I'd pre-order it for sure! Love this series... Keep 'em coming!

I had a lot of fun playing this game, it's worth your time, also play it on Nightmare

It could have done with a few more side quests but that's really the only negative I can think of.

After three years of development, which were converted to 20 hours of playtime, The Evil Within 2 has totally unlocked its predecessor's potential. The wonderful story, the blood-freezing atmosphere, the big variety of horrific monsters and the great progress systems make The Evil Within 2 one of the best survival-horror games of the last few years. Indeed, the game is not bug-free, but those technical issues rarely happen and don't hurt the overall experience. If you like the genre (and particularly the previous title), The Evil Within 2 will be one of your best nightmares yet.

The Evil Within 2 is a grand follow up from a studio who has set out to fix the pacing issues with the first game, while offering a bigger, more coherent title that looks better and plays better with the reworked stealth and upgrade mechanics, but without forgetting the parts that made most of the original a solid action horror title. The Evil Within 2 throws players into its disturbing, more personal world for Sebastian, offering some great horror scenarios and thrilling, tense action to back up its amazing monster and environment design. Even though this year has been amazing for games, it’s not been the most active for action horror fans, making The Evil Within 2 highly recommended for people who enjoy throwing themselves into disturbing adventures to get their thrills.

The Evil Within 2 get so much right that it's predecessor got wrong, and it's actually a great game on top of that. The initial chapters of the game start off slow, but then once things get rolling, this game is really hard to put down.

The Evil Within 2 is an excellent game and a wonderful survival horror, perfectly mixing Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4 while correcting all the flaws of the original. The story’s better, the locations flow together well, the more open areas are fun to explore, and the ability to choose between action and stealth is very welcome. It’s also incredibly creepy with truly wonderful monster designs. The combat can be a little frustrating, especially early on, and occasionally the stiff Resident Evil 4/Gears of War-esque controls make things a little tougher than they need to be, but in general The Evil Within 2 hits the mark. If you’re looking for that ideal horror game to play on Halloween, this is the one to go for.

Technically speaking The Evil Within 2 is a lot better than its predecessor. The game is a lot more accessible for a greater audience, without forgetting about the die hard fans.

The Evil Within 2 is a solid survival-horror game. It scares you and keeps you tense at all times. Despite the minor flaws you will be enjoying a 15 hours game full of sick, twisted, bloody and scary events, which will haunt you for days. A must buy.

The Evil Within 2 is a better game than the original. While I feel that no part of the game close to the excellent opening moments of the chainsaw man chase that opened the first game, the sum of those parts makes for a better overall experience. That said, I did not really fancy any of it. My aforementioned gripes and PC port issues leave me feeling indifferent towards the scattered high points. In classic horror fashion, the game ends with a hint towards another sequel. Hopefully it will try breaking new ground in gameplay systems and offer a more compelling story.

John Johanas has masterfully taken up the directorial reigns and given us a game that, while it shares many trace elements of DNA with its predecessor, has more than enough of a distinct identity in order to separate it from the pack.

I spent 4 hours in chapter three just doing map markers, which can be great for some games, but not so much for this.Performance-wise, it's pretty solid but it does stutter a bit after starting up.

The Evil Within 2 gives you more options to play your way in a much bigger survival-horror playground than the original. Although a disjointed plot and weak protagonist make it slow to get started, being pursued through an intriguingly bizarre world by plentiful and disturbing monsters kept my palms sweaty and my heart in my throat thanks to a strict adherence to the most important survival horror rule: you should always be on the back foot.

Be prepared for some slightly clunky movement and somewhat repetitive walking simulator sections. Past that, it’s a wonderful sequel to a game that was originally sort of a miss, rather than a hit. You’ll become just as invested as Sebastian is when trying to find his daughter and walk away from the experience feeling like you got your money’s worth. The Evil Within 2 is well worth the purchase, but especially (for) those who enjoyed the first game and want something more.

Innovating within the bounds of horror's familiar tropes and rules is a difficult task, but one that The Evil Within 2 handles with grace. Developer Tango Gameworks cleverly introduces old-school horror design within the confines of a semi-open world that ultimately makes for a refreshing trip into a world of nightmares.

The Evil Within 2 is just like its predecessor: a mixed bag. While it had the potential to be something absolutely brilliant, Tango Gameworks has attempted to both cram too much in and offer too little at the same time.

The Evil Within 2 is not a small-scale indie production that can only appeal to a special target group with a certain form of phobia. As an expensive mainstream product it has to compromise. But I think this has been a wonderful success.
