The game offers multiple diffulty levels, nice upgrades, and various objectives. Excellent replay value, very fun.

A decently fun arcade shooter, much like Galaga or Space Invaders. It has a neat art style and plays really well. All for ten bucks too. If you’re feeling a little old school and want something that could last you around four to five hours, this is it. You’ll get your money’s worth out of it.

The Bug Butcher puts you in the shoes of a space exterminator that must clear a space station of a nasty infestation. It seems all 5 floors - 30 levels in total, have been invaded by a host of insects and it is your job to clear them out and restore order.You get to start out by picking between Panic or Arcade mode. Panic mode is a Timed mode that will allow you to work your way through the levels untill you either run out of time or die. If you pick Arcade Mode, you will have a bit more health and will work your way through the 30 levels of the space station. The main difference is that if you fail a level you don't have to start from the beginning, you can just retry it. You also earn stars based on your score.Game play in either mode is pretty straight forward. Just fire your gun straight up in the air to eradicate the bouncing bugs. You will pick up a wide variety of short use weapons and power ups along your journey to help you. In both modes you gather coins and can use them to upgrade your weapons and buys perks. In Arcade mode these upgrades are permanent - and cost a lot more - but in panic mode they only last until you die. The other difference is that you can grab a friend and play co-op Panic mode, while Arcade is solo only.The graphics in the game are spot on. There are over a dozen different types of insects that you get to shoot at. They are varied enough to keep you on your toes, and delight your senses. The music and the sound compliment the game play. No matter if you are playing for 10 minutes or 2 hours, you won't get bored with the soundtrack.

The Bug Butcher might be a simple game, but it’s filled to the brim with charm and most importantly, fun and engaging gameplay.

It’s got that great arcade feel and frantic pace you look for in a title like this, and is so deftly executed it could delight the most stridently anti-nostalgia gamer.

For me I had a fun a weekend with it. I completed 29 of the 30 levels in arcade mode giving up on the last one because I recognized I would never be able to beat it. But to others who are more competitive this game does offer an outlet to that and playing the game that way you can get a lot of value out of it.

I went into The Bug Butcher with few expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised by how well the classic arcade mechanics held up to today's standards. It's a challenging game that never feels cheap or unfair.

Fortunately i found out, she was not having a fight with some visitor– no, she was having a heavy fight with a bug butcher „stage boss“.I sat down and watched my wife die and die an die and die and it was so much fun to see her getting more an more excited. Time flies by watching/playing this game. We finally made it to 31 hours of fun so far.The „simple at the first look“ 2D classic arcade game has ist very own „mechanic“. Since you can only shoot vertically while your enemies are improving theirs skills from level to level, you need the perfect timing, tactics and lots and lots of combos to collect coins for very helpful upgrades. The time limit in every level, a limited number of lives, and awful stage bosses gonna let you die a thousand deaths. But as your enemies are getting stronger and more complex every level, so do your skills and your weapons until you are a real master. For me that is the main fun in this game, seeing how your own skills improve and improve and killing bastard stage bosses, that seamed unbeatable in the beginning.I can highly recommend this game, give it a try !

Ok, before you buy this one I have something to tell you: this game is pure arcade. It is not something you will cry while playing or even fall in love to, because arcade games are not suposed to do so.Now that I have made it all clear, this is one of the best arcades I have ever played, and this is something arcade lovers will enjoy a lot, mainly due to its frenetic rhythm and pace.Getting 3 stars in all levels is a hell of a challenge and very entertaining. Also, soundtrack is great and matches the game flow.But, if you don't like simplified arcade games, thats not for you.

I loved everything about The Bug Butcher. I have been looking and looking for a fun, simple game that I can play to kill time. Most games that come out nowadays that you can play to kill time blow. Sometimes I don’t want to play a game that is gonna take me hours to get into or is too complicated.

The art and animations all feel at home in the universe this studio has produced, giving a cartoony kid-friendly vibe that’s violent but not over the top.

The Bug Butcher is a good-humored throwback to an almost-forgotten series, updating the gameplay while preserving the heart of what made it great in the first place.
