IGPX for PS2 did team racing way better, and that is a extremely old game. So you have to ask yourself, why play this "Team Sonic Racing" game. When you can just play "Mario Kart 8" or/and "Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed". Those 2 games are way more polished. Team Sonic Racing was also suppose to be a sequel to Transformed, but why take a step back and remove the transformation aspect? This feels like a cash grab because of the blow back from the Sonic movie.Just skip this and play either Mario Kart, All Star Transformed, or/and IGPX for PS2.

I am a fan of racing and I bought this game thinking is maybe just as half as good as Crash Team Racing of even Mario Kart 8. This game has very weird mechanics and unsofisticated content of nearly similar tracks. I don't think that has a worth of it's price.

Positives:+ Kickass music+ Drifting is satisfying+ Racing as teams is funMixed:~ Story is ok for a racing game and the missions arePositives:+ Kickass music+ Drifting is satisfying+ Racing as teams is funMixed:~ Story is ok for a racing game and the missions are alright~ The game looks decent in general but some textures look roughNegatives:- The game's been on a sale more times than it has had patches (less than half a year after release)- Online play was dead on arrival due to random disconnects, no mid-race joining, too many queues and no cross-play between consoles- It's nearly impossible to form even two full human teams (3 and 3) since local multiplayer only supports up to 4 players and the online is dead- Badly optimized (Intro cutscene plays at double speed, framerate drops etc.)- A.I. teammates suck most of the time- Can't play the story as Metal Sonic (I don't care if it doesn't fit the story, I just want to race as him)- All unlockables are behind a slot machine like system (It only uses the free in-game currency but it's just tedious to spam a button to get stuff)- Very little customization / unlockables- Lack of characters- Lack of levels- Developers abandoned the game and went radio silent since the first and only patchSo in conclusion, don't buy this game. There's just so many things that don't work and the content is lackluster compared to the past Sonic racing games. Developers abandoned it and so should you.

Not a bad racing game. Not as good as a Mario Kart as a party game, not as good as other racing games as a car racing game... but stillNot a bad racing game. The stages' design is pretty good, the soundtrack is good as well, the level of customization is nice, and I did enjoy the interactions between characters. At least I do not mind them talking regularly during the races. As for one thing I feel it's missing, it's the ability to form custom teams as desired. The team is selected for you randomly when playing exhibition matches. I only wish I knew that before buying the game as, as a Sonic fan, I wanted to choose my favorite characters and have them race together. Overall a game that kept me entertained only for a couple of days, worth buying it during sales, maybe.

Overall, Team Sonic Racing is a fun and inventive racing game that puts a nice spin on it with focus on team cooperation. Cooperate with your teammates, blaze through the tracks, and work together to gear up and speed up.

At the end of the day, Team Sonic Racing isn’t exactly the game I was hoping it would be, nor is it incredibly close. It’s a good, very competent and fun kart racer, but it doesn’t have as much content or as much of a wow factor as the two incredible games that preceded it. Still, I don’t want to sound as if I don’t like this game or think it’s above average, because I do. It's a good, competent racing game, but doesn't have the wow factor or staying power that I was hoping for.

If you’re looking for an enjoyable alternative after playing Mario Kart 8 for the past five years, Team Sonic Racing smoothly drifts its way to a decisive silver trophy. Start your engines!

Under this cartoony hood is actually a competent kart racer. Team Sonic Racing feels good to take for a spin, and there is enough packed in for a longer drive as well. The tracks are all varied enough, the cars feel really good to drive and Team Adventure is a decent Sonic story, if presented a little poorly.

But there’s a vast gulf between solid (which is what this is) and good (which is how I’d describe previous Sonic racing games), and it’s very clear that this game is stuck firmly on the “solid” side.

Despite being in the shadow of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Team Sonic Racing crosses the finish line as a solid kart racer in its own right. All of these additions make the game a lot more challenging and strategic, though their presence does make racing without them (which is possible in the game) feel dull in comparison. But honestly, when playing with a group of friends, i'd prefer to play this over Mariokart (not to discredit Mariokart. It's awesome :D )I've seen many other reviewers complain about the game's graphical downgrade on the Switch, but this is simply because the Switch's hardware is not on par with that of other current-generation consoles. But working with what they had on the Switch, this is a great effort on SEGA's part, and doesn't affect the gameplay in the slightest. If you'd prefer better graphics and a higher frame-rate to portability, just get the game on any of the other platforms for which it's available.The adventure mode is challenging and enjoyable all the way through. Though the story isn't very deep, the interactions between characters are downright hilarious.All in all, I give this game an 8/10. Not perfect, but worth your money all the same if you're a fan of Sonic, Kart Racers, or both!

What’s here is a love letter to all things Sonic, not just in character variation, but stage design, audio presentation, and much more besides. Despite some online teething issues, some questionable AI behavior, and the odd poor design choice, you’ll not find a better kart racer this side of a Nintendo system.

Team Sonic Racing is a decent kart racing game that you’d do well to try out. It handles really well and, despite running at a mere 30FPS, looks pretty good for the most part. However, the team mechanic is entirely unnecessary to the experience, and the game just simply doesn’t match up to Nintendo’s own karting effort.

What you get with Team Sonic Racing is what you honestly better than you might expect from any modern game bearing the Sonic moniker. It’s a flawed but mostly competent kart racer that is budget priced and might be fine for kids who like the blue hedgehog and his furry friends.

Mod pods aside, the game's few weak points do little to weaken the thoroughly enjoyable kart racer that they inhabit. Team Sonic Racing is a blast to play alone, online, or at home with friends, and it's more than worth its $40 price tag.

While not a huge letdown, there are certain other things that could have been improved or added. But all in all, this is an amazing game and it's a relief to see a good Modern Sonic game, even if a spin-off, again!

If the fans might object that Team Sonic Racing has only karts to race, the co-op mechanics are very good and getting our team in front feels even better than to win the race. On the other hand, the game offers little-to-no challenge and the the content is pretty light.
