En effet, comment un gars peut-il être aussi vite au volant d'une Citronopipo et parallèlement se révéler aussi bovin dès qu'il ouvre sa boîte à camembert ? deux de tension le gars et encore !...Mais bon, ce n'est pas ce qui nous occupe à proprement parler : ce qui nous occupe, c'est l'épouvantable, l'innommable, l'abominable étron que nous a servi Milestone cette fois-ci. D'habitude, Milestone oscille entre le moyen, le médiocre ou le plus ou moins correct (plus moins que plus certes) mais là, le développeur italien a complètement raté la conduite. On a l'impression de manier des hydroglisseurs, pas des caisses de rallye... elles "flottent" quoi qu'il arrive sans remonter la moindre information au conducteur.Jamais vu ni conduit un truc d'une telle imprécision, c'est complètement raté qu'on soit amateur d'arcade ou de simulation. Il en découle un comportement totalement incohérent voire grotesque, une sorte de mauvaise blague... pas drôle.Techniquement parlant, ce n'est pas la joie non plus... Les sons n'ont pas progressé et peuvent être qualifiés de médiocres et limités en ce qui concerne l'environnement. Graphiquement, on note quelques progrès depuis l'ère PS360 mais ça reste très inégal avec assez souvent des spéciales fort laides... et des bagnoles modélisées avec la serpe d'Assurancetourix. Les temps de chargement sont longs et le framerate est inégal lui aussi...Le mode carrière sent le gros farmage des familles mais bon, ça, y a du contenu, rien à dire là-dessus : le nombre de spéciales et de bagnoles est impressionnant. Dommage que ça soit inutilisable en raison d'une jouabilité foirée à mort.

From my point of view, WRC 6 is far better, and even better option is Dirt Rally (with less options though).

I've put about 15 hours into SLRE so far and to be quite honest, it's a really a great rally game. First and foremost the actual physics engine powering the game is surprisingly robust. It's pretty nuanced as well. You'll definitely need to dedicate some time to getting the feel for it.The graphics are serviceable, but nowhere near DiRT Rally quality. You'll often see a lot of pop-up, textures drawing in and really rough shadows. That said SLRE does have it's own certain charm. The sound effects and music are by far the weakest points of the game. While some vehicles sound throaty and give a satisfying growl, most sound like an angry bee hive and lack any sort of depth. Again what it all boils down to is how it feels and SLRE feels really good when the physics are hitting on all cylinders. Weight transfer plays a huge part in the handling, I'd say maybe even more so than DiRT Rally.Milestone really did excellent with the physics engine in SLRE. I keep talking about the physics because for all it gets wrong, it gets the feel of driving right. The AI in the rallycross events is actually pretty decent and will give you a run for your money. Though they often act overly aggressive and often slam into you as if you're not there at all.The framerate definitely leaves a lot to be desired and often hits in the sub 25 FPS range. Only a few times did it actually get in the way of driving, but not often. I'd say that there's enough room for SLRE and DiRT Rally to exist in your game library. They both have their strengths and weaknesses and complement each other quite well. If you have a chance to try out SLRE, give it a shot, it's worth your time.

Overall, Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO is a disappointing affair. While it delivers a technically-good game, it rarely delivers exciting action.

Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO is a dated rally racing game that has a hard time being fun. It's a shame, too, because a lot of effort was put into recreating its real-world inspired tracks, and developing its incredibly lengthy career mode.

This situation isn’t helped by an array of dreary technical problems either: scenery is flat and lifeless, dirt and dust effects are disappointing, while the sound effects will leave you wanting. This, combined with a frequently erratic frame-rate, produces a game that desperately needed more time and money for the developers to fully realise its vision. It’s a shame, because Rally Evo boasts such an attractive feature set – and from a studio we know is capable of mastering simulation mechanics – but this year it just couldn’t compete with Codemasters’ stellar return to the scene.

Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo offers a nice career mode with a lot of different cars, challenges and locations, but it's quite disappointing on nearly every other aspects, especially if you like simulation racing games.

This is a title that falls in an odd position in the spectrum of racing titles. It is far too ambitious to be considered an arcade racer, but too unpolished to be a simulation. Regardless of your level of skill, this may be one experience worth steering clear of.

Targeted at hardcore fans of rally and racing games in general, Sebastien Loeb Rally won't attract casual bystanders to add this game to their collection and even fails to offer enough to its target audience.

Challenge mode is a real fan-pleaser and the fastest rally stages are fun and pretty. But it feels clumsy at low-speed, has some severe technical issues and rallycross events are poor.

A solid rally experience with a tremendous amount of content. But mediocre driving physics and Milestone’s trademark mediocre engine step hard on the breaks.

It surely lacks a polished graphics and sound engine, but the driving experience is sound and compelling, the contents are plenty, and the track design is just great. Way better if enjoyed with first person view and a driving wheel.

If you’re unsure whether to go for Dirt Rally or Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo, choose the former. Loeb Rally may come with a huge amount of content, but suffers from other severe flaws: from a technical standpoint, Loeb Rally is pretty much outdated and at no point during our time with the game, driving was ever really enjoyable. Every car feels weirdly stiff to control and gives the player little to no feedback. So if you have the choice, stick with Dirt Rally. Everything Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo has going for it, Dirt 3 already did a better job at.

This is the first game where the steering dampening is worse than Dirt:RallySecond, the roads in the game are all flat. sure, there are hills and crests, but even the dirt roads look and feel like someone simply painted a gravel wallpaper on a perfectly maintained tarmac road.third, this game is absolutely unomtimized. fps slows down for NO REASON AT ALLfourth, the camera is broken. in corners, it jerks wildly from side to side.fifth, this is actually "listen to some bloke talk"-simulator. this guy's voice samples constantly come on and go on and on about some nonsense like you've never seen a car before.

Outside of the officially licensed WRC franchise, Milestone’s first attempt at the rally sub-genre does little to reinvent the wheel. However, Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo does offer a pleasant alternative to the previously rigid career modes found in similar titles by offering a wide range of different events in which to take part.
