The AI is the same we've seen since ToCa Race Driver as the drivers don't race for their own success, but to prevent the player from being successful by any means necessary - usually this means running at the player not unlike a freight train, or in case of the player not being near enough for that, driving in an inhumanely perfect fashion 100% of the time. On the flipside in regards to fast racing, when driving slow behind the safety car for example, the drivers ahead of you may slow down so much that you end up becoming a ghost (a terrible feature that you can't disable) while they don't and at least one driver behind you gets a legal overtake as a result.And when it comes to AI ramming you, after the AI pushes you into the barriers and ends your race, the other teams' interest in you diminishes by a ridiculous amount as if you're the one to actually blame for even trying to be on the track. Every. Single. Time. And this often breaks the whole contract system apart unless you somehow manage to be lucky enough to upgrade your car to beat better teams - which would normally happen around season 3 at the earliest.The weather system is also one of the worst I've seen in an F1-game: there are four different stable percentages (let's assuming it's 0%, 33%, 67% and 100%, condition wise it's "dry," "light rain," "heavy rain," and "HR w/ standing water") that are always the same if the weather doesn't transition to anything else. The track is evel less dynamic as it's the same amount of wetness in all parts, of course depending on the overall conditions - actually, it's technically not at all dynamic, even if Codemasters have falsely advertized (illegal, by the way) it as such since 2010. Plus the physics are terrible, most evidently in case of car-to-car contact.If you want good examples of F1-games in simcade or sim-categories, pretty much anything you saw as a Sony-exclusive and Crammond's Grand Prix series was more advanced and realistic than this amateurish construct that makes the sport look bad in the eyes of a person who knows even the tiniest bit about the workings of racing.

They overshoot corners, hit walls and crumble like paper mache on impact - but master the basics and you are in for one hell of a ride.The career mode makes you feel as if you are an aspiring F1 driver, trying to score his first points (assuming you start in a lower tier team) or turns up the pressure up out the gate to start racking up those wins should you have started with a top tier team.The only reason I dropped it one point is the engine wear is not very realistic and becomes costly in the season.

Great career mode, great move with the addition of classic cars, physics are very much improved, although graphics (at least on the drivers' and people's faces alike a PS2 game) have to be improved, the rest is good. Maybe it is the best F1 game since F1 Championship Edition or F1 Challenge 99-02, or maybe the best even above them... 2018 can be great, think about it.

Even if there was a lack of tracks this didn't bother me and I if you get this game, try ramming into everyone and try to immobilise them, get them off the track and destroy their car, it is super fun!I give this a chocobo outta 10.

I wish they added every single classic car and track from every era on top of 2018 because really i don't want to buy another copy for this 2017 season. I usually sell the last copies to afford the next year; having the classics would really help until F1 get's better, it's very sick. I don't particularly like the new cars and the way F1 is being run, and it's going to get worse next year but the game this year isn't bad it's basically the same as the last 3 years. Particularly the tyre colors are making me depressed, now they have pink ones, it's not even the hybrid electric futuret. Having the few classic cars I can play might help me cope with the lose of F1, even though it's still with us and miss F1.

But many of the bugs only shows if you will race more than 5 laps (so no casual gamers would find them).A short list of not fixed bugs after 4 months : Safety car has to be disabled, because there is many more problems with it like penalties for you, AI not aware of SC and is trying to overtake you and also crashing into you (no penalty for them). AI is crashing even into SC. AI is not getting upgrades, because AI doesn't know how to drive with them so CM didn't teach AI to drive (that's official CM statement). AI also doesn't know what tires should use and is coming to pits "every" lap to get new because weather is changing (so weather is bugged). Also penalties are not correctly counted, qualifying is not remembered to race, setups resets to default during race and many many many and many more bugs ...If you hoped, that all bugs are only in carreer, multiplayer gets worse too! SC is automatically disabled by game (so CM are aware of it, good to know), because known bugs above. But I've never seen that massive desynchronizations as is in this game !!! Last year the biggest problem were not synced starting lights, but now, there are situations where drivers are racing in two different races (or more - every player in his own)! Loosing connections, host migrations, unable to get into sessions it all was there for years and still not fixed and is much worse then any year before. The only hope is CM will come with dedicated servers next year, because multiplayer is totally broken.If there are any awards for the most broken game of the year, this is the winner! Don't buy this game or F1 2018, until the game is fixed - check forums after release ... and believe me, there is almost nothing they've fixed after release - all major bugs we've reported wasn't fixed to this day and it was the same with 2016. Don't buy this game.

The campaign runs similar to 2016, which is fine with me, but I’m really enjoying the special events (historical cars). Great graphics, great gameplay. I’ve yet to play online with others, so my review may change after that, but so far i haven’t had to deal with getting smashed into and spun out.

The graphics are not that great as compared to other sim games out today. The championships are fun time pass. The game is recommended to be played with a Steering wheel, if you play on a controller make sure to turn on traction control and anti-lock brakes. This game is probably the best one from the series, so I do recommend to people looking to buy a F1 game.

My only problems I have with the game are a few balancing issues (Raikkonen is OP and the Williams are a bit faster than real life. Also, the career seems very realistically paced which is nice I suppose, but can be a little boring or repetitive at times. The game is a good pickup if you are a big fan of Formula One or want to try out a less simulation-like track racing experience.

You can get upgrades to improve the reliability of your engine parts and your gearboxes. You can upgrade the engine powertrain and the aerodynamics and the chassis and the durability. You get resource points for doing R&D objectives which you can spend on upgrades to make the car faster and more reliable.If any of your engine parts or your gearbox gets really worn you could have faults like if your gearbox gets too worn you can lose a gear which means you will have to change your gearbox and if it’s before the 6 races of the gearbox you will get a 5 place grid penalty for the race so you could risk it and buy a fresh power unit and a new gearbox and it will save you being given a grid penalty and you could benefit if the AI drivers have grid penalties and you don’t you could start higher than you qualify which would help your chances of finishing in the points if you are in a slower car and you can also use older parts for street circuits like Monaco which doesn’t rely on engine power it relies on down-force and chassis which will benefit teams that have a good chassis and are slightly down on power can defend from faster cars because overtaking at Monaco is very difficult with wider cars so you can get a better result if you qualify well. i think its a great game and codies have out done themselves this time

This game has the best racing career of all time, i´m having so much fun with it and all other players I know too, other games should copyThis game has the best racing career of all time, i´m having so much fun with it and all other players I know too, other games should copy that RPG elements, the gameplay is solid, the graphics is top for today's technology and the AI improved a lot and is generating good fight but there is only a good guy AI in the first corners, they just do early breaks and let too much spaces but the rest of the race is pretty good. The down is for sure the sound and online quality but if you like F1 you must buy this oppose to editions from 14 to 16.

If you are an F1 fan, this is without doubt the best F1 game of recent years. Graphically it is excellent , the gameplay is exciting, the sound is spot on, and there is just so much content. Honestly I'm not sure where they can go with this now in terms of improvements until the next generation of consoles are released. It's an absolute must for an F1 fan the way FIFA is for a footy fan. Does it have the depth of Forza 7/PC2? No - because it focusses on F1 and it does that better than any other game around today. 9 from me!

Although not as impenetrable to newcomers as earlier entries, F1 2017 in some ways falls victim to the curse of annual releases; with such a rigid release schedule in place the opportunity to meaningfully expand upon last year’s effort is reduced and often the best you get is possibly a new mechanic and a whole heap of fine-tuning of established mechanics.With F12017, its big new trick is the in-depth career mode and extensive level of customisation that comes with it and the rest is just a refinement upon the (Admittedly fun) foundation of previous games.

For me, the true tell of a successful game is one that excites that passion for racing and vehicles. Racing is more than just laps on a circuit, but vehicle management, lap times and the thrill of the chase and victory. F1 2017 easily achieves this, and continues upon the brilliance that was F1 2016 last year. Fans of the motorsport and racing in general would certainly do well to check out this title, with Codemasters once again proving themselves as one of the leaders of the genre.

Unlike previous F1 games where the AI was either too easy or too difficult there is now a slider to change the percentage of AI difficulty which allows for finer tuning to suit a vast array of play styles and expertise. Fuel management during the practice sessions and the classic F1 cars are great additions to the series, although I would like to have seen a Benneton F1 car included. The game runs at a very smooth 60fps which is a must when it comes to racing games for me. My only gripe is that there can be some screen tearing which is quite noticeable but I can forgive this as the rest of the game is near perfect. This game is a must buy for any F1 fan. There is also enough new content to satisfy people who played F1 2016. Do yourself a favour and buy this game.

If you’re a fan of racing games, F1 2017 should be considered an essential purchase — even if, like me, you don’t follow the sport. The racing is seat of your pants stuff just like it ought to be, and its career mode is simply phenomenal and offers tens of hours of in-depth gameplay. With F1 2017, Codemasters may have just made the best Formula 1 game ever, and I just can’t wait to see how they aim to top it.

F1 2017 is a game that’s built for F1 fans. It does a really admirable job of bringing people like me along for the ride, but I think it rewards fans over and over again with an amazing F1 experience. Even though I’m not the biggest F1 fan I fell in love with F1 2017 and see it as a game that I’ll keep coming back to long after this review is published.

F1 offers a wide array of options, but when it comes to driving behavior it is not the best. However, this is the best Formula 1 title since Grand Prix 4.

Rich with details and faithful to just about everything that makes contemporary F1 tick, F1 2017 is about as good a simulation of a single, modern motorsport as you can get.

F1 2017 delivers big in all departments, with every mode you can care to think of, an expansive, in-depth Career mode, and a fantastic selection of online options. Add to that lot the return of classic F1 cars, and F1 2017 is a champagne-popping winner and no mistake.

It's a shame that it suffers from so much tearing. It's admirable that Codemasters wanted to keep a high frame rate going, and that much is fact. But it's hard to deny how horribly distracting they are when they come...Everywhere else, F1 2017 is a thoroughly enjoyable, deeply engrossing experience that both fans and newcomers will enjoy.

F1 2017 is another superbly authentic recreation of modern F1. However, the sport’s current complexity will be overwhelming for most, and the returning classic content is nowhere near as good as it should be.

Its mix of refined mechanics, updated graphics and all new cars results in a game that’s up there with the studio’s old-time greats. It’s proof that, very occasionally, they still make them like they used to.

F1 2017 is perhaps the biggest game in the franchise to date, but still feels strangely empty as its new content doesn’t really change things enough from the previous games.
