Battlefield Hardline offers a fun single-player experience. Arresting suspects could have used some extra polish, as it's way too easy to manipulate the AI to surrender. The multiplayer mode is quite fun as well, but it suffers from lack of content and for the fact that it plays out like a stripped down version of Battlefield 4. The game's heritage aside, Battlefield Hardline is by no means a poor effort.

An engaging narrative, beautiful visuals, varied gameplay, and top-notch multiplayer (that works well) all fit together to deliver one of the biggest and best experiences to be had this year thus far.

A passable and unspectacular campaign is unlikely to win any new fans, but Hardline's fresh take on Battlefield multiplayer makes it worth a shot.

This version of BF also brings more accessibility than that of previous games, where customizations and loadouts can become extremely complicated and cumbersome from within a match (and near-impossible to do between matches). The only major problem here is that Hardline never really stretches the franchise in new directions. It feels like Visceral used the same formula as Halo and placed its gametypes all on the same maps without any real augmentation that could keep things fresh. I still haven't done everything possible on Hardline, and while it is a good game at its core it will struggle to recapture the scope and excellence of the past couple Battlefield titles. It's also hard to focus on Hardline when DICE and EA are nearing the release of Star Wars: Battlefront, which is panning out to be Battlefield with a heavy creative hand, and that makes Hardline sound less appealing.

Hardline works best in its multiplayer portion where it abandons the pretensions of police work and storytelling. Playing Battlefield online is stepping into a sprawling tempest of gunfire with 63 other players. Here, violence has a cross-canceling effect, in which neither side is granted automatic authority and every power and ability can be questioned by the other side.

But let's be serious, most people buy a battlefield game for the multiplayer and that's where this game goes wrong for me. I'm not great at shooters, but when I get killed, i would like to see what I did wrong. In this game, there is no such thing. You get killed, but half the time, u don't know why. The killcam in this game is one of the worst i've experienced in years. I don't care what a player does after he killed me, I want to know how he killed me. The multiplayer maps are nothing special, they are not bad, but not great either. In some cases, half of the map is never used, as players stick to the same area, making some parts of the maps useless. Luckily there are vehicles to quickly skip the empty parts and the spawing in a teammates location helps. I seem to have a hard time spotting other players from a distance. In my opinion there are not a lot of game modes and some of these game modes, just look the same. The graphics are good, but I would have expected a bit more from this title. I've seen a lot better on the PS4. I would suggest that people buy the game when the price goes down a bit, because the game feels overpriced for the content it gives atm. Keep in mind that this review is a personal opinion, maybe you will like the game and give it 10/10 but for me, this one is going to be traded in for something better.

We can see in its lack of substance a reflection of a disturbing social complacency when it comes to exploring complicated issues like police violence and systemic racism. We can also recognize what little faith it has in its players to wrestle with difficult concepts, to find something meaningful and troubling behind using a digital badge and police-issued firearm in equal measure to solve our crime problems.

after 30 hours this is my review. battlefeild is a strange series. it fails to learn its lesson from previous titles and frequently makes theafter 30 hours this is my review. battlefeild is a strange series. it fails to learn its lesson from previous titles and frequently makes the same mistakes over and over. although hardline is by far the most stable at launch , it is not currently the most stable current battlefeild game, that belongs to battlefeild 4. they failed to balance the classes at all (K10 overpowered still) and is overall not a gutsy title. but that does not make this a bad game in the slightest. the new game modes are fun and creative, the guns feel smooth and authentic, you can blast your car radio while running over other players, and you can drive a couch called the american dream. Overall not a 60$ buy unless totally sold, only 9 maps and 8 modes (less than bf4), but is worth a buy if you like battlefeild a lot. 7.5/10

Hardline actually feels like a fresh Battlefield experience. Unless you have friends to play online with right away, wait for a price drop before pinning on your police badge or slipping into a ski mask. Hardline is good but it's not exactly a necessity.

Hardline‘s release was smooth, and although it did feel like a modified BF4, it also plays like something novel and worthwhile all on its own.

On the multiplayer side, Hardline provides a solid and very compelling, even if highly BF4-like, experience, with some very entertaining new modes; the single player campaign resulted in a satisfying experience too, but we would have liked proper, full-blown stealth gameplay, rather than the unconvincing mix Visceral presented us.

Visceral have created a perfectly good functioning Battlefield game in Hardline. It shoots as good as the best of them, the car-chases are fun, and the small tweaks made to the core formula are very welcome. But a little refinement does not mask that this is a very similar game to what we bought in 2013; despite the strong efforts to make a variety of new game modes, you can’t shake the feeling of playing classic Battlefield.

Battlefield Hardline is a two-pronged success, with a killer cops-and-robbers story backed by a speedy take on competitive play.

Battlefield: Hardline may seem like simply an expansion to the fourth entry in the game, but after diving in I enjoy it a lot more than the previous effort. The campaign is a breath of fresh air, and the multiplayer adds enough to make it stand out.

Battlefield Hardline's new gameplay mechanics don't work all the time. This game developed by Visceral Games is generic and pretty forgettable, but if you enjoy competitive multiplayer, you should try it.

While Hardline isn’t the Battlefield you may be used to it offers a unique approach that will surely please fans of the genre. The campaign is a big step up from previous entries and while the multiplayer anarchy has been trimmed down, the gameplay in its place is more tactical and intimate.

Multiplayer is, of course, the main reason that you buy into a Battlefield game, and it's generally enjoyable, even if it doesn't do anything to revolutionise the genre. However, both Activision and EA, and every other FPS developer that aspires to become the top dog franchise, needs to learn that if they are going to persist in putting single player narratives into their games, then they need to do a far better job.

If you want fast gameplay, clean shooting, awesome team work capabilities, then give this game a shot. Almost all of the reviews say the multiplayer side is great. Heck, check youtube. Some of the most respected battlefield community members are saying the multiplayer is great. It's not battlefield 5 so quit comparing it to 4. It's a new franchise basically that takes the best of infantry combat from battlefield and amps it up. If you loved bf3 close quarters this is awesome.

The single player is brilliant and feels like you are in a movie. The multiplayer is what you expect from a company that has been at this for so long. The release was flawless without any of the issues seen in the previous 2 releases. The mechanics are solid, responsive, and lightning fast. Overall, this is the best Battlefield to date and I have played them all.

I know visuals aren't everything but man.... why the huge downgrade? This is a first for a BF game and a huge disappointment. It kills the atmosphere and just doesn't look like a modern game.Gameplay wise this is just OK. Not incredible or innovative. It feels more like CS or CoD than Battlefield, big time. That Battlefield feel is barely there. I understand this is a spin-off, but it doesn't have that epic all-out war feel. It just feels like very quick skirmishes between police and robbers. There is a ton of camping, too.... a ton. People just wait by a road with an RPG in Hotwire and they get instakills way too easily. Netcode problems are still rampant: I had 4 trades in my first hour of play and I died behind cover twice, as well. Vehicle physics improved by about 3%--yeah, hardly anything, really. Probably one of the very few games that was worth the pick up at midnight. Don't listen to the bad reviews if you see they are going off a beta. Anyone that's play the full game will give it a honey rating between 8-10. If you know battlefield history this is by far the best one and a great change. It's a little GTA with Payday mix in. Great team game. The story is pretty fun. Great game go pick it up and you won't be mad. Great things always have the biggest haters remember that. And enjoy and look me up on ps4.

The multiplayer is like Close Quarters in BF3, which was nicely rated when it was released. The action is much more dynamic than in previous games, cause maps are smaller, not like in BF3/4 where you could camp e.g. on the mountains in Operation Firestorm map and snipe all the players walking around. The gadgets for all classes are nice, and the easter egg with sofa is just lovely :P

Hardline might not reinvent the wheel the series rolls on, but it certainly makes it spin a whole lot smoother. Speeded up gameplay, an opened-up single-player, and a robust suite of new multiplayer modes lends itself to the best Battlefield to date—though that’s not saying much, a decade later.

Just like BF: Vietnam and BF: 2142, it does not reinvent the wheel, but it does enough unique things to be called its own, and if you’re looking for chaotic multiplayer fun, you can never go wrong with Battlefield Hardline.

The simplicity of the campaign's stealth gameplay and the enemies' readiness to submit at the sound of "Freeze!" is comical, though the silliness was not likely Visceral's intention.

While Hardline certainly isn’t your standard Battlefield experience, the changes and tweaks present here are welcome additions, breathing new life into the franchise that’ll entice both veteran and new players alike.
