Civilization Beyond Earth Are You Serious?

Another day, another massive rip off for Australians.

The upcoming Civilization - Beyond Earth is coming in a hefty $89.99 AUD for those poor little Aussies. No wonder more and more gamers and consumers of digital content are using VPN's and sites such as CDKeyPrices to get around geo-blocks and price discrimination.

A quick price comparison from the other steam stores including the USA and the UK shows us the continued and blatant rip offs that Steam and game publishers dish out on a daily basis to those Down Under.

The US and UK Steam store has the game up for pre order for $49.99 USD & £29.99, respectively. On current rates that is $57.17 & $55 AUD. How they can tact on another $35 I will never know.

One of our most trusted and favourite cd key stores, is listing the game at the moment for $39.78...or $45 AUD. That's exactly half the current Steam price.

I know a lot of Aussies are sick of this argument, but the more we continue to whinge about it, the more we continue to get around get blocking, and the more we continue to not give in to the criminal rates on our Steam store, the more likely it is they will listen.

For a price comparison of the stores we are tracking, have a quick look here. Even amazon has it for $49.99 USD. Review Review - Dat Domain!

CDKeyPrices had existed for a good number of years before I noticed a website using the domain The first thing to cross my mind was "what a domain!" The store initially had only a few older products and was not a cd key store I thought I would be interested in tracking, considering I'm mostly looking to list the more popular, reputable and up to date shops. Whilst price is a factor (something we touch on in this review) when I look at the stores (I'm trying to get you the cheapest prices, remember!) it's not the only factor. I added the store to my trusty browsers favourites’ folder for future reviewing. It wasn't until perhaps a year later that I revisited the store and noticed a change. They had easily doubled the amount of the products they stock and the prices looked great. On some of the latest games at the time, they were either the cheapest or close to it. They had them in stock too!

Not only that, their Facebook! and Twitter accounts looked pretty active, something that I take note of when assessing a stores eligibility. During compiling this specific review I had a quick glance over some reviews on the more major review sites, as well as searching for the site on gaming related forums. Both came back with positive results with Trustpilot netting them a very healthy 9.8 of over 1000 reviews.

I got in contact with the owners and we came to an arrangement for listing. Since that time I have not had one single complain about the store. do not to stock Russian or VPN versions of game, which we outlined in our Buying Guide, can lead to issues.

Whilst conducting our review we found out the business is based in Dubai, and their company info is present for all to see. This is a big plus for us. A lot of websites requesting listing on CDKeyPrices do not have registered business details, don't pay tax, or at not willing to share even basic information about their operation. This raises red flags for me. has been a great supporter of CDKeyPrices, supplying several popular games for giveaways on our site. From its initial listing days, it has been one of the best performing and best converting stores we have; a great indicator of their awesome stock levels and confidence users have in the site.

The Verdict

I can thoroughly recommend They don't have the biggest range, they don't have absolute rock bottom prices on everything, but what I can tell you is they don't mislead you about their stock prices, they don't take days to email your key, and they won't give you any headaches!

Site Update

Yup, not the most amazing website you will ever see, but it's be simple and fast.

I had a good think about what we should do and decided we should concentrate on what we do best, and that's compare prices!

I've added some new stores, dumped some others. You will notice that stock status is now on the product pages, which means you get a little bit more critical information to help you make your purchase and get gaming faster.

CD Key Store Reviews are getting a revamp. I'm concentrating heavily on getting the store's prices updating more frequently.

I'm always interested in feedback. Please let me know!

What Is The Cheapest Origin Store

By now I think you're fully aware of the ongoing price discrimination that occurs on Origin, Steam and UPlay. It's the sole reason I made this site! When Borderlands 2 GOTY goes for $79.99 USD here in Australia, it makes me want to throw up a little in my mouth.

Whilst the differences in Steam prices from country to country is well documented, I thought I would have a look at the Origins stores, apply the same exercise and compare their prices.

Using the Hola Plugin (it's amazing) I had a look over the Australia, US, UK, and Mexican stores. I took a look at the games on the front of the pages for all the stores, what should be easily taken as being the most popular and recent releases, as well as including deals, and compared. There are a lot of other stores as well!

All prices are converted to USD using the latest rates.

As expected, the prices differences are insane. Us poor Aussies get screwed again. To add salt to the wounds, a new Ultimate Edition Fifa 15 CD Key, is even cheaper than even the cheapest store we track!

What we also need to be aware of is that a deal on the US Origin store might not be a deal on the other stores as well.

Early last year, literally weeks after the game was released, SimCity went for a lazy $27AUD on the Indian store. That deal was not available on the other stores, and it was only for a day or so. You had to be quick.

Can you buy from these stores? Yes you can. As always, there is an element of risk, and is probabaly against Origins Terms & Services agreement. Let us know in the comments if you have ever had an issue. We would be interested to know.
