That said, the control scheme is ancient, the graphics are primitive even for something released in the 90s, and the learning curve is very steep. Definitely not something the average teenager can just sit down and play, but if you're willing to invest some time into it you'll be rewarded with a very deep and compelling experience.

This gameUnreal World is a roguelike about surviving, and then thriving, in Iron-Age Finland. Its incredibly fun with lots of replay value. This game is so realistic that it is the only roguelike to have been used in a school setting for educational purposes. However, don't let that fool you into thinking the game is boring. From the start, you're racing against time to acquire food, shelter and supplies. The game is open ended so you choose how to go about meeting your character's needs. Fishing, hunting, trapping, farming, building, exploration, trade - this game has it all. The depth of Unreal World gameplay is incredible. Once someone on the forum asked for tips on trapping and got lots of good advice. A new person registered just to say that they came across the thread by searching for real world information on trapping and that the advice given was so accurate it took him a while to realize we were discussing a game. If you like roguelikes, you really should check out Unreal World. One word of warning - it's really easy to get hooked.
