Worst trials game to date. They bought back the system everyone loves, "Lootboxes" because that worked out so well before. The tracks are nowWorst trials game to date. They bought back the system everyone loves, "Lootboxes" because that worked out so well before. The tracks are now laid out in a terrible over complicated way instead of Fusions more simple menu layout. Most of the game is locked behind micro-transactions including tracks and bikes. What you get with the game itself is just ridiculous. Bikes are even locked in multiplayer so you have to spend weeks grinding the same maps unless you buy more to unlock the good bike to play with your friends on difficult tracks that require a faster bike. They are even charging for Fusion tracks?! So charging for tracks that you already paid for with the previous game?! This game is micro-transactions mayhem. Everything is just locked behind paywalls making the experience without paying more money extremely limiting. So glad I didn't buy this rubbish as I got it on PS plus. Ubisoft as of today has 0 games that aren't ruined by mtx.The campaign in this game is terrible. You can't switch off ghost players which just annoys you. It's more a race against ghost leaderboards instead of just enjoying tracks. Trails is basically dead to me now. I wish you could play track central against friends on Fusion as then I would have an excuse to play any trials game but I can't be bothered to spend weeks grinding for a good bike on this one. Bikes should be unlocked on multiplayer. It makes no sense to have them locked?

I'm a fan of the series and this is a deal breaker for me when precision is one of the core element of the game.

If you haven't played a Trials game before, it is incredibly rewarding, fun and difficult with a harsh skill curve and lots to master. itIf you haven't played a Trials game before, it is incredibly rewarding, fun and difficult with a harsh skill curve and lots to master. it involves heavy use of analog controls for precise and challenging platforming and runs at a smooth 60fps which is good because for the 1st year of its release it had constant random frame drops to 40fps for no apparent reason. There are many checkpoints, basically one after each obstacle and many Ubisoft made tracks to play and master as well as hundreds of thousands of fan made tracks to play as well with a good rating system to find quality tracks. If you are new to Trials games, you will probably have to do about 30 minutes of contract grinding to get enough xp at some stage depending on how good you are with maybe 1 hour or so of grinding if you have played a Trials game before. This is okay though (not a big negative) as the game by nature is very grindy, in order to get the best times so I barely noticed the grind because I was grinding tracks to get gold medals anyways. By grinding, I mean good fun grinding to improve your skill rather than other games that make you do the same thing over and over again with no rewards for doing it better. The game has tracks based all around the world which means that each track has its own unique identity and feel. The track selection is better than ever. This is due to both the track editor having way more features than previous games as well as the Ubisoft made tracks being much better. Each Ubisoft track has its own look and feel to it with some being colourful and fast paced with many moving parts such as the Eifel tower track and others such as the Stonehenge track being slower. The DLC in the gold edition has some fantastic tracks as well and there is also a giant selection of tracks to choose from. There are 10 leagues in the base game (and 4 per dlc) as well as the skillgames and Trials University so there is a lot to master with over 200 tracks on top of extra dlc in track packs and some free dlc in the gigatrack. The extreme and especially the hard tracks are the best I've played in any platformer, let alone Trials game. The visuals look good as well, especially for a locked 60fps game but are not outstanding. The base game has loads to do and the dlc is great too. There are also infinite ways to use stickers to customise your character or buy using in game currency other people's designs from the in game store to make yourself look fabulous. The only real cons are that the menus are laggy and difficult to navigate and the online is dead due to the playerbase mainly focusing on offline grinding for medals. Some people will talk about lootboxes, but these are optional, entirely cosmetic, mean nothing and are completely avoidable. In conclusion: The gameplay is Outsanding with lots of tracks to play and probably 100 hours of gameplay for a new player who is good at games to get gold on all the Trials tracks (but don't worry there are ninja tracks too). The graphics and performance is now very good and in my last 20 hours of gameplay have been locked at 60 during gameplay. The only negative I have is the laggy menus.

I have enjoyedI am casual player for this kind of game, I bought TR for some good motocross action. Gameplay has been fun and addictive. I have enjoyed obtaining gold medals in every easy and normal tracks. Even, I obtained gold in every hard track that came in the first round. Sadly, things started to get rough from there. It's very hard to master bunny hop and other techniques, I think this Switch version is doing things even harder due to low framerate and buttons.Progression is terrible, the level of grinding is too much. You will need DLC to keep going if contracts are too hard or too boring. Even stadium finals became a frustrating and repetitive excercise. The fun is gone. Why Ubisoft couldn't do a game from everyone? I want to 'git gud', sure! But, I don't want to spend more than a reasonable (for a casual sport games player) number of hours perfecting jumps, speed, precision to a pro level just to beat the campaign.

I see myself as an average player and knew going into it that I would not be able to beat the hard tracks. None the less I am in the top 15% on the leaderboards which tells me that most people are like me in that they find the hard tracks all but impossible to complete. But do not worry if you are an average ability player like I as there are over 60 courses that are beginner, easy and moderate to play. Then there are at least 100 user made courses to play online, some of which are every bit as good as the developer courses and a couple even better. If you buy the DLC, one includes a motorcycle with a roll cage which can be used to easily beat the beginner, easy and moderate courses. After that you can use the other better performing bikes to get better times and rack up some more gold metals. Different bikes handle differently. The starter bike handles well but is not very powerful. The 2nd bike you get also handles well but is much more powerful and is my favorite bike. The 3rd bike you unlock is light, fast and nimble yet is a finicky beast to control yet is the only real option for the hard tracks. After 40+ hours in game I must say that I am having a blast with it. The gameplay is fun and addictive. Even now I am still learning new techniques to shave precious seconds off my track times. If you are into this type of game then I think Trials Rising will not disappoint.
