The Surge: A Walk in the Park

Know somebody who might be like this game?

Summary

The Surge has already dragged players deep into the high-tech CREO industrial complex, overrun by deadly machines, rogue AI, and deranged exoskeleton workers. Its first major expansion A Walk in the Park takes players to an environment that’s more open and colorful, but no less deadly. CREO World is an amusement park built by CREO for its employees and their families. Forget your cravings for cotton candy though―CREO World was not spared from the disaster. The entire park is a deadly trap where roaming rescue teams have gone insane and robotic mascots patrol freely, patiently waiting for new visitors to welcome.

I really liked this DLC. Although I don't really like amusement parks, this surroundings here were well played even for my taste. The newI really liked this DLC. Although I don't really like amusement parks, this surroundings here were well played even for my taste. The new enemies funny. New bosses made me happy, and even very much. The plot ...well, it is not strong, but it fully corresponds to its surroundings ...plus... it touches on the main plot a little, which also adds a little rating to this "Park DLC".

All in all, the ‘A Walk in the Park’ expansion is a worthy addition to the base game. I enjoyed my time with The Surge when I reviewed it way back in the mists of time, and the expansion has the exact same feel as the main game, but has turned everything up to 11 with the addition of the new enemies and weapons.

The Surge was one of my favorite games of 2017, and the "a walk in the park" expansion just adds more awesomeness. I've just finished my fifthThe Surge was one of my favorite games of 2017, and the "a walk in the park" expansion just adds more awesomeness. I've just finished my fifth playthrough of the entire game and second including this expansion, it's a blast, and a continual challenge as ng+ keeps throwing more challenging opponents at you. Specific to the expansion, I loved the themepark aesthetic, being outdoors was a pleasant change, and the new enemies and a whole new huge level to explore was great. There is more new lore which adds a bit of depth to the story, cool looking new weapons and armor suits, and new buffs to collect. My only complaint was that most of the new stuff was no better than the old stuff. I didn't find any weapons or armor that were worth replacing my black cerberus armor and mg caldera flaming single rigged weapon of doom. The extra life, energy and stamina buffs were much appreciated though.Overall this expansion is just basically an extra level for the main game, but it's a GREAT level.

The lack of enemy variants is a let down, which is surprising seeing as this was the chief criticism from the core game. I also found the story to be somewhat less interesting than it could have been. Outside of those two flaws, this new content is brilliant.
