It’s no secret that when Street Fighter V was originally released back in February 2016, it had some teething problems. And when we say teething problems what we really mean was lack of content, small roster of characters, no story mode and pretty poor online modes….. but apart from that it was great (insert side-eye emoji here)! Fear not though Street Fighter fans, the new release of the ‘Arcade Edition’ has rectified all those initial problems!
The new story mode is great fun to play and is much more than your standard ladder of matches with a big boss at the end. It’s a celebration of Street Fighter’s thirty one year history, with so much nostalgia thrown in you’ll be convinced it’s 1997 again and your mum’s about to start giving you grief for not doing your homework!
Street Fighter has always been one of the (if not THE) best fighting games out there when it comes to gameplay and they’ve kept things very familiar in the fifth instalment but with a few little upgrades and new features. New trials have been introduced and along with the built-in help function in training mode, even if you’re a Street Fighter novice you’ll be able to master the controls and take on the pros in no time. Street Fighter V also sees the introduction of the in-fight ‘V-Gauge,’ which increases as you receive attacks and adds the opportunity for three new fighting techniques (V-Skills, V-Reversals and V-Triggers), all unique to the individual character = even more special moves and combos to discover.
