The goal is to collect gems and dragons so you can enter the "boss stage" and hop onto a balloon. Since this is the first game I've ever beat (on the PS1) I'm very nostalgic to this one, and while most of it still holds up I'd have to say there are a couple things wrong with this remake. The jump is nerfed which will make a couple of jumps very frustrating. Especially the one in Cliff Town where a missed jump results in a 10 second loading screen. When you play it you'll know exactly what I mean. Next to this complaint the game still holds up really well. This is imo a must play classic.Ripto's Rage improves on everything, giving you everything the first did, plus an actual story, cool bad guy you want to defeat, mini games that are simple but very good and a wider moveset. Even the stages have more variety. This one also gets rid of the "boss stages" and just makes them into bosses, which works great because unlike the first one the bosses here are challenging (especially Gulp). Here's where the series shines brightest in my opinion, lot of great and unique ideas that are executed very well. This one is a must play classic as well.The Year of the Dragon starts to slack off however. It's by no means a bad game, however it loses a lot of focus the second one had. This one has a quantity over quality problem, where some of the mini games are really fun, while there are also ones that just are a bit underwhelming. This could have something to do that some of the mini games are a slight variation of the former game. This one also introduces new characters that all have weaker gameplay than Spyro does. Sheila is okay but kind of boring (2D is very frustrating though), Sgt Byrd which has very bad controls when you're in the air (which is his whole gimmick), Bentley which is either plain out boring to play as and infuriating in one of the mini games due to his camera being over the shoulder for no good reason and Agent 9 which is a poor man's shooter. Check this one out if you liked the first two, you'll have fun. But it's way too bloated for it's own good.

That's about as much as I can say for the net positives though, since you simply cannot fix the terrible level design choices or unfair challenges some levels face. There's a lot of performance issues and annoying clipping that would otherwise be unseen in the original games for the PS1 as well. If you're looking to play the original trilogy and don't own a PS1, this would be a suitable alternative for new fans; For those who do own the originals, it's best to dust off those old discs and play those instead.

In handheld there is serious pop in, and there is what i perceive as resolution issues, with me seeing what looks like dots forming on objects that are further away, but that could be my poor eyesight. Overall, though it has it's graphical issues, I have personally never been one to be a stickler for such things, and as long as the game is good, I have a positive experience. And the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is most definitely a good remaster, and I also really appreciate the attention to what the players want from a new age Spyro game. With things such as a free camera, and other little things like that, it has something for every player. So, in conclusion, the game has some serious graphical issues, but it has a great core, and honestly, as long as you play in docked mode, you won't even notice said issues.

i bought te game on the day one because i loved spyro when i was a child, so speaking about the game is an amazing adventure platform , youi bought te game on the day one because i loved spyro when i was a child, so speaking about the game is an amazing adventure platform , you will find a fine game with a lot of collectable to find , minigame, funny npc and a good story, it' s not a difficult game at all, but will be very good to play just for pass the time ad relax, beside where the real difficult lay is find everything and not defeat the enemies. speaking about the porting they did really a very good job, because they manage to keep the graphically fidelity much higher than crash bandicoot, with smart cutting in the right department and some tricks like reducing the grass in handheld mode, the only downside is the frame pacing still there but this is a problem common to all the platform, the frame itself is always on 30 with very rare moment of fall. i enjoyed the first game a lot and ready to start the second one.

On Nintendo Switch looks and feels great, especially on portable mode... but It's a shame that this port suffers from longer loading times and some FPS issues when playing in dock mode.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a wonderful love letter to a classic series, keeping everything that made the original games what they were, but slapping on a fresh coat of paint for the HD era. There are a few creaking bones showing their age here and there, but only due to the developers’ desire to keep things as accurate as possible. The Switch version looks absolutely stunning and runs surprisingly well, so if you’re looking for a classic 3D platforming experience, you should definitely give this a look-in.

Rather disappointing on the Switch. Visually it’s a pretty game, but detail does feel sharper whilst in handheld. It’s still lovely to look at whilst you’re playing docked, but it’s not as crisp. If it wasn’t for the problems with the control’s response time, I could easily play through the games again, however, if you’re only interested in playing for the portability factor, it’s still decent enough to take with you on your travels.

Most impressively, each of the dozens of levels has been thoughtfully recreated with impressive attention to visual and audio detail, bringing the magical feel of the series to life once more. Fans of the originals will find almost nothing to dislike, and I can see Spyro delighting a new generation of players with the quality of this collection.

Whether it was my fatigue of current titles or just that I crave colorful platformers, I cannot recommend this game enough. The dragons look fantastic. Being able to play this is a dream come true.These games aren't difficult by any means nor are they terribly long. If you played the Crash Bandicoot remaster then know this follows a similar formula as do most PS1 platformers.The flight levels could give some people trouble but that's about it. You have to be perfect with some objectives. These games are remembered for their fantastical elements and whimsy, not brutal difficulty. Most people would probably rate this an 8-9, but I give it a 10 based purely on my own nostalgia of the franchise and how grateful I am that we got an honest remaster without bloating the game with extra content to make it seem relevant. It knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything more.

I’m so happy that I got to experience the games again in a new way, and it really excites me knowing a new generation will get to experience it as well. Is it the last time we’ll get to see Spyro and his buddy Sparx outside of the Skylanders franchise? I certainly hope not. And if this much love has gone into this remake, it would be a shame if it was.

For most players, nostalgia won’t be enough to save it; the games are good enough, but not great. These three titles would have been better suited as straight up re-releases on the upcoming PlayStation Classic rather than as a set of remastered games.
