Just move around, jump and attack but I must suggest if you are using a keyboard assign your own keys right from the start, since the original key configuration used was a bit strange.Visually the game is pretty OK. The graphics style is quite nice and the color pallet is awesome. You will see what I am talking about and how everything going to be painted when you slay your enemy for the first time.Overall a very nice game for a casual game season... I fully recommend it.

While the core gameplay is still the same, there is an added depth that gives the sequel even great variety. The single-player is not as noteworthy as its multiplayer, but if you regularly host guests, Nidhogg 2 is a great time.

Nidhogg has always felt like the promise most fighting games make but set the bar way too high to actually deliver: two highly skilled combatants that have not only mastered their technique, but can read their opponent and counter accordingly. No memorization of strange combos or endless character variations, just simple controls with a highly balanced set of rules that make for a learning curve so smooth it’s practically nonexistent. Nidhogg 2 adds some small but mighty innovations to the gameplay, making it feel fresh without ruining what made it so special in the first place.

I only played Nidhogg briefly back in 2014 and despite me only playing the game for a brief amount of time I really enjoyed what the gameplayI only played Nidhogg briefly back in 2014 and despite me only playing the game for a brief amount of time I really enjoyed what the gameplay had to offer. In a way the gameplay was unique and it stood out quite a bit which meant returning to the game was quite easy to do. As you can imagine then I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on Nidhogg 2 and I was very excited that it was finally making its way to the Xbox One. Thankfully it was worth the wait and I’ve already sunk quite a few hours into the game and the best thing is that I can’t see myself getting bored of Nidhogg 2 any time soon. Once again the gameplay is a very unique experience and when you factor in the very good strategy elements as well you do end up getting addicted quite quickly. Even though the replaybility and addictiveness is quite high in the game I would still recommend that you play this game in short bursts because it does become repetetive quite quickly. I will say though that it only really became tedious and repetetive when playing on your own and without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is when you play with friends. Playing it this way is much more fun and you’ll find that you end up sinking a huge amount of hours into the game without realising when you play in co-op. One thing that really impressed me about this game was the amount of customisation the game delivers to you. You can literally chop and change every little detail to your heart’s content and by doing this it means that you can make every game completely different, which is great. Despite there being a huge amount of customisation available to you it doesn’t really have anything different from the first game, but whilst this may be off-putting for some it didn’t really bother me that much. Technically once again the game holds up really well throughout and there isn’t really any problems to discuss. This is great then because no issues mean the frustration levels never get high at all and this gives you another reason to return back to the game time and time again. The presentation side of the game may not be the best you’ve ever seen before, but I actually really enjoyed it. Both the visuals and sound design have a unique flavour implemented into them and in a way this unique flavour makes the gameplay that little bit more fun. At the end of the day if you were a fan of the first game then you’ll love Nidhogg 2. It doesn’t do anything spectacularly different compared to the original but what it does do is take what was so good about the first game and in a way improve it a little bit and when it’s all said and done it does more than enough to get a recommendation from me.

Nidhogg 2, despite the criticism, is an evolution of the formula that improves in all respects on its predecessor. Its bizarre and colorful aesthetics give it its own personality, and its refined playability and frantic action make you want to play again and again.
