My Time at Portia

Know somebody who might be like this game?

Summary

My Time at Portia is a simulation open world RPG game. The world is set in a post-apocalypse setting. Humans are few and relics from the past are everywhere. The player will need to start a new life in a town on the edge of civilization called Portia. The player will start a workshop and build things with relics from the past for the betterment of society. The goal of the game is to make the workshop as big as possible.

We want to enrich the world with other NPCs that have their unique behaviors. Characters will go to school, do their jobs, workout, and have fun. They also have unique stories for the player to experience. The player will be able to get into relationships with other characters, be them friendships or romances. Romances can end in marriages.

Players can gather materials from an open world. Cut down tree, pick up herbs, mine in ruins, even plant your own garden. There are vast areas for the player to explore around Portia. Deserts, islands, reefs, highlands, marshlands, and more! Each area bringing their own unique items and monsters. There are two different types of dungeons in this game. Players can gather relics and ores from the abandoned dungeons, and fight off monsters to gain look in the hazardous dungeons.

We hope to give the player a truly memorable time in this game, of a warm and welcoming little town full of experiences.

Lots to do and the fact that it actually has a genuine story instead of just simply plotting you down on a farm and letting you wander around. Each character has their own personal quest when you befriend (with a few exceptions) and each have their own unique personalities. I strongly suggest checking this game out.

It's like a 3D version of Stardew Valley. Actually they got rid of all the annoying parts about Stardew Valley, so I like it better. They really, really heavily copied Stardew Valley though...so much so, that I think Stardew Valley could probably win in a lawsuit.. It plays well on the Switch, except it always crashes after about an hour or two of play, which isn't too bad, since it autosaves after every day. The load times aren't too long, which makes me think that they majorly patched it this year, since all the really bad reviews are from last year. I really like the way they implemented mining. I found mining in this game really relaxing. The map is giant, but there's a lot of nothingness outside the town.

The updates to fix things are few and far between and it doesn't get as much loving as the PC version from what I've seen. I quite enjoy that there's a huge emphasis on building rather than farming. Some of the tutorials or instructions on how to use things could be better but if you stick with it, it is really enjoyable. There can be lag within it but I find if I turn off the game and load it back up it seems to fix most lag issues. It's a very chill and relaxing game. Perfect when you want to wind down from a stressful day.

There are still glitches, and loading times can be annoying, but they are not often. The main thing that I want to point out in this review is that many of the issues talked about in the other reviews were launch problems that have been patched out. It has been improved post launch. I have never gotten stuck or had a game breaking bug. The worst thing that happened to me was that my house disappeared once -- once I managed to find where the door should be I was still able to enter it.So yes, it's not perfect. But behind the few glitches that still remain is a wonderful game. If you're willing to look past them, you'll have a wonderful experience, with crafting, a large world to explore, and the best mining I've experienced in a game in this genre. It's simply fun. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and do not regret my purchase at all.
