Monster Hunter: World

Know somebody who might be like this game?

Summary

Monster Hunter: World sees players take on the role of a hunter that completes various quests to hunt and slay monsters within a lively living and breathing eco-system full of predators…. and prey. In the video you can see some of the creatures you can expect to come across within the New World, the newly discovered continent where Monster Hunter: World is set, including the Great Jagras which has the ability to swallow its prey whole and one of the Monster Hunter series favourites, Rathalos.

Players are able to utilise survival tools such as the slinger and Scoutfly to aid them in their hunt. By using these skills to their advantage hunters can lure monsters into traps and even pit them against each other in an epic fierce battle. Can our hunter successfully survive the fight and slay the Anjanath? He’ll need to select his weapon choice carefully from 14 different weapon classes and think strategically about how to take the giant foe down. Don’t forget to pack the camouflaging ghillie suit!

Once you fight a few monsters you really feel like you accomplished something. I played solo for the first while and then a few friends started playing also to take on some of the tougher ones. I played with multiple weapons, but specialized with the long sword for the majority of the game. I grinded out the platinum for this one, which to be honest was kind of terrible. It’s easier with events now, but still getting some of those crowns can be very time consuming and repetitive. It’s a pretty great experience and taking on new monsters has a learning curve. I think this game is enjoyed more with friends, but I do know some people that are still going at it solo and love it.

Possibly the worst version of a monster hunter game with various faults, lack of content and strange design choices and horrible fights reallyPossibly the worst version of a monster hunter game with various faults, lack of content and strange design choices and horrible fights really ruining the game as whole. Monster variety is limited to a handful of different animation sets and some fights are pure agony to work around it’s mechanics, most weapons are bland and basic and simple features like a pause button is absent. The game does look great for the most part but don’t let that convince you that this is a good MH title, go play MH3U, MHGenU or MH4U instead, you’d thank me in the long run

I don't understand all these people, who spend 100+ hours in it. Optimization is terrible, combat is so clunky, hitboxes are awful. Controls are so weird it's hard to actually enjoy the game. Missions are boring. The only good thing about this game are pretty good looking monsters.

Let me just start off by saying that this game did not appeal to me at first. The only reason i picked it up was because of word-of-mouth. ILet me just start off by saying that this game did not appeal to me at first. The only reason i picked it up was because of word-of-mouth. I kept hearing that the game is enjoyable, fun, EPIC and lengthy. i saw the game on sale so i decided to give it a go and i am soooooo glad i did. The visuals, the color and and the game-play are just amazing. Hunting down these monsters and the thrill of it all made this game outstanding.

I've came from a few similar RPGs, mostly also played on PS4: Horizon Zero Dawn, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy XV. Despite some similarities, MHW is a unique game. It's a huge RPG full of details, plenty of missions. I started playing with a Katana, and even gave up on the game after meeting the Anjanatah. After a few months, watching other players playing with a light bow gun, I remembered how fun it was playing in distance with HZD. I tried with light bowgun and it worked for me pretty well (of course after some reading and tips on this gun). After 45h I finished the game and the elder dragons. The Elder Dragons were by far the best bosses/monsters in the game, incredible monster design and amazing fight and blasts! The multiplayer also gets interesting when fighting huge monsters like them. I give it an 8.8/10 and I'll certainly play the Iceborne expansion.
