The age old question that for years everyone has been debating…….. who would win in a fight between a Knight, a Samurai and a Viking? Okay maybe not EVERYONE but certainly a question that has caused considerable debate amongst friends across the world, over a beverage or two at their local establishments. Okay maybe just MY friends but still, it’s a damn good question that until now has been impossible to answer. Thankfully our friends at Ubisoft have finally given us a way of settling the debate with their action, fighting, ‘hack and slash,’ For Honor.
Set in a medieval world, you take control of either The Iron Legion Knights, The Chosen Samurai or The Warborn Vikings. Each have their own story in campaign mode and each have their own unique weapons, skills and fighting styles. The game is played from a third person perspective and can be played as a single player or as a two player co-op. Now the reason I put ‘hack and slash’ in inverted commas earlier is because if you try and button mash in For Honor (as is sometimes the fashion in other hack and slashes), you’ll find your head removed from your shoulders, lying on the floor next to you before you know it. The game uses a tactical combat system known as “Art of Battle” and it really is just that. The clever combat system focuses on the art of attack and defence and you’ll have to ensure your timing is spot on and if you don’t learn to read subtle body movements, you’ll soon come unstuck. The multiplayer modes take this to the next level too but after you’ve had a go at the campaign you’ll be ready to take on the world and prove once and for all that I was right and Samurais would DEFINITELY win in a fight between the three!
