Although the game is called "Farmer's" Dynasty, you are actually NOT playing a farming sim. You are playing a social sim/ farming sim/ lifeAlthough the game is called "Farmer's" Dynasty, you are actually NOT playing a farming sim. You are playing a social sim/ farming sim/ life sim hybrid, and from there everything goes downhill. First you need to "earn" your old farming equipment by doing chores for lazy neighbours (fix houses/barns/greenhouses). Due to a bug my seeder quest wouldn't start, no matter how often i visited the location. Once you earn a plough some people ask you to plough fields for them (a time consuming chore). Furthermore, the game has a second way to keep you busy: getting social points. You can earn these by talking to people, fixing their broken homes and ploughing their fields. You see the drill? Unfortunately, the game is poorly optimized and looks and plays like an x360 game. Social interactions are robotic, a lot of pop in and models look poor. Farming takes forever and doesn't reward much (5000-7000 per field in the beginning), while new equipment costs an arm and a leg. Apart from the traditional farming crops on the field/greenhouse, you can also keep hens for the eggs, milk cows, keep bees, go fishing, pick apples, pick mushrooms, do side quests (transport/plough/repair/delivery), meet new people, get married and have children. Lots to do, but most of it are just chores to keep you busy till the next harvest. Conclusion: if you can get the game cheap and enjoy a low budget farming/social/life sim, there's some fun to be had. If you get bored easily by the same things to do, steer clear.

You'll get nice screenshots of what you were promised, and most people even seem to be able to play it with more 15 fps. Unfortunately theYou'll get nice screenshots of what you were promised, and most people even seem to be able to play it with more 15 fps. Unfortunately the cheap illusion that you are offered only breaks down all that much faster, and all you will experience is a game made by people who had neither the resources nor the talent to do it. There isn't a single feature that isn't glitched in some way, and not a single mechanic that feels finished or even thought through. But maybe I got it all wrong and this is actually a satire of the "good old times life simulation" it pretends to be. Maybe all the clunkyness, the crashes, the cardboard-cutout environment and lifeless NPCs are actually by design, and it's the developers warning us: No, moving back into the 1950s is not the answer. In that case they totally succeeded, up the point where I refunded this.

For a farming simulation game, Farmer's Dynasty it isn't absolutely awful, but it isn't wonderful either. Because the developers wanted to include both life simulation and roleplaying elements and made them a core part of the game, I have to take that into account when trying to understand what they wanted to achieve with this game and how that helps or hinders it. If they were looking to create a standard farming simulation game, yeah, it's decent. Tedious, but decent. But the roleplaying and life simulation just did not work for me at all. I would have much preferred that they just toss the entire social system and put more life into items you can purchase, polishing the animations, and focusing more on customization for your farm.
