If you hate multitasking, or get panicked when given a time limit, then Boris the Rocket on the Xbox isn’t for you. It’s a brutal test of time management and steady nerves, as you construct and configure missiles in a desperate bid to stay alive. For our tastes, the pressure was too unrelenting, and Boris the Rocket could have approached ‘enjoyable’ if it offered some calm moments to go with the not-so-calm.

Boris The Rocket: You are Boris and no you are not a rocket as the name suggests. However, you are very much in charge of rockets on a RussianBoris The Rocket: You are Boris and no you are not a rocket as the name suggests. However, you are very much in charge of rockets on a Russian missile launching facility in the middle of nowhere in a Russian wood. Why are you in this place? After Boris, you, were arrested by the KGB for making fun of the Glorious Motherland, your punishment is to operate the facility all by your lonesome, and a bear that is parked outside in the snowy landscape. You are tasked to deploy the rockets, make sure it is locked onto the target on the radar, making double sure you are shooting the incoming missiles with a rocket equipped with the correct firing conditions. Yes, some incoming missiles are standard and just need a lock-on from the radar, and others need a little extra like heat seeking capabilities. Shooting down each missile grants you some experience that levels up to improve Boris’ attributes like larger lung capacity to faster movement speed. On the side, your British accented KGB overlord boss drops you parcel for your good work given you made no mistakes. Leveling up comes in handy as you are also in charge of the manufacturing of the rockets. Simple enough, this is done by putting on a thick jacket, running outside to the mine for supplies to then take to the rocket factory. This can be nerve wrecking as incoming missiles do not wait for anyone. On the side, you also have to construct a large ICMB Missile to probably shoot down an American Bald Eagle for promoting freedom of speech. The graphics is as basic as they come from newly form Indie studios, but they nailed the soundtrack that helps us to help Boris accomplish his tasks while also discovering some secrets in this bunker you are stationed at. Boris the Rocket is a unique enough to make you keep playing to what happened to the previous tenant, why the bear out on its own mission, and who in their right mind leaves a fridge locked when they were the only people there. I hope to see more of Boris in future titles, like maybe Boris the Fish, or perhaps Boris in Boris’ Burgers. Any man that get qualified for rocket launching duty just by firing an over inflated cola bottle must a fascinating individual.
