Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Know somebody who might be like this game?

Summary

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 brings the award-winning Battlefield gameplay to the forefront of PC gaming with best-in-class vehicular combat and unexpected "Battlefield moments."

New vehicles like the ATV and a transport helicopter allow for all-new multiplayer tactics on the Battlefield. With the Frostbite-enabled Destruction 2.0 system, you can take down entire buildings and create your own fire points by blasting holes through cover. You can also compete in four-player teams in two squad-only game modes, fighting together to unlock exclusive awards and achievements.

Battles are set across expansive maps, each with a different tactical focus. The game also sees the return of the B Company squad in a more mature single-player campaign.

This is a great game, thats all there is to it! You complain about the 5 hour story... Have you played a COD game? You complain about "unloading a whole clip and not killing them, then they turn around and kill you"... Dont you think if they can hit you that maybe you just suck lol. The engine is beautiful! Graphics look 100x better than MW2 or Black Ops and if you can run it, upgrade your POS 8600. Are you serious? Most of the issues people are complaining about (disconnections, graphics, crashes, etc) are all things related to your PC, not the game. For those of us who actually know how to optimize settings and make our integrated sound card work on Windows 7 there are no crashes, great sound, great graphics, and fun game play. And no controller and Joystick support?!? LOL! Play with a mouse/keyboard like a man or you will get dominated. If you are going to play with a controller than why dont you have an xbox? And for all the b*tches who complain about the weapon and gadget unlocks. Are you serious? Every game known to man gives you the sh*t first and you get better as you play. When your a newb, you die... As you play and get better you dont. Thats like whining because you fell of your bike the first time you tried to ride it. Grow up. Everything takes practice. If I used all the very first guns of this game and no unlocks, I would still kick your a**. Dont believe the haters, the fan boys, and the morons. This game is a solid shooter with a level of intensity you cant get anywhere else. When the side of the building you are hiding in gets blown off by a tank or apache and you have to run for your life before the building collapses! Thats fun, not getting knife raped by people over and over with overpowered "perks" of other games. Oh and also, If you have ever used a knife or a gun for that matter, you dont ALWAYS hit what you are aiming at. If you miss, reload and try again. Welcome to reality. To summarize: BF:BC 2 is a console port yes, so there are some things that make it not as good as the other BF games. But most of the things people are complaining about are because they dont know what they are doing or they are 10. Amazing game, very fun, very good looking, and you cant touch leveling the entire battlefield and having tanks and BMP's roll up on you. This game is what its supposed to be, exciting and functional.

The gameplay, graphics, sounds, and environments give the game an immersive theatrical feel. War Tapes also adds a nice level of immersion and so do the dynamic voice responses to battlefield situations and kills. On the down side the game is very buggy. There are literally thousands of users with crashing and other stability problems with the game. There are also some other issues with connectivity that are being addressed. There are some weapon and class balance problems as well that leave many players wondering what EA was thinking. The maps however seems pretty well balanced, though some of them have quite a few glitch spots that are too easy to exploit if you know where they are. In all reality, BC2 feels more like a $50 beta test than a retail release. That being said, it's still fun to play and much better than other games in its class like MW2. The game does require a decent gaming rig to play, so keep that in mind. Better yet, you may be better off waiting until the game goes on sale. Maybe by then the stability issues will have been corrected. Far from a 10, a 7 seems like a fair rating since the game has a lot of potential.

Why does everyone like this game? Sure, it has dedicated servers, but the browser limits options like not showing the IP address. The idea of Why does everyone like this game? Sure, it has dedicated servers, but the browser limits options like not showing the IP address. The idea of destructible environments is great, if only the enemies showed tactics of some kind. Everyone claims the game has excellent sound. Sorry, but some of us don't use 7.1 surround sound, and for us all the in-game sounds seem muddled. Gunshots sound terribly generic and both reloading and the ease at which you die is pathetic. The maps are too large, yes, too large. Call of Duty: World at War gave a better sense of battle tactics. Sure, it was every man for himself, but at least you didn't spend so much time walking across the map, looking for an enemy. The graphics aren't terrific for the terrible frames per second they produce on lower end machines. Running causes you to drift to the left and getting hung-up on the environment is way too common. Heck, even Modern Warfare 2 was more fun than this. I really want to like this game, it has some good "borrowed" ideas. The trouble is the execution. For instance, don't show a cutscene and sgive you control of the camera, only to fade to black. If you are going to use the in-game graphics for cutscenes, give back player control and let them continue playing. I'm pleased the developer wanted to give PC gamers a break (and for that alone they deserve a combined rating of at least 5), but after playing 100's, and I mean hundreds of PC games this particular effort justs smacks of port. In conclusion, poor optimization, poor sound, poor story, and the lack of immersion just ruin what should of been a great game. I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't want to enjoy the game as much as I do.

No radios, heavy connection issues, my unlocks disappear from time to time, long loading time, you spawn next to enemies, this is just a very clunky game. I understand, it's the first few days of the game, etc. etc... but come on guys, I'm a professional too, and if we released something (not necessarily a game) that's this clunky and problematic, I know some heads are going to roll. You're talking about paying customers here. We expressed our respect for your product by paying for it - at least respect us and our own time by ensuring that you put out a completely functional product when you release it. However, this is a good game, like I said, when it works. Excellent atmosphere, graphics, sound, gameplay. I just wish it doesn't waste so much of the customer's time on bad connections, bugs and downtimes.
