It's a simple twin-stick shooter with an interesting radiation mechanic that drives you forward to find more anti-radiation pickups and you level up/choose your types of bullets as you go through. It's pretty unforgiving and difficult, but I genuinely like this game. If you're looking for a good twin-stick shooter meets dungeon-crawler, this is it! It's so cheap, there's no reason NOT to get it if it's on sale! I bought it for like 50 cents and have sunk like 10 hours into it. It looks cheap, but it plays well.

A good game should give you a reason to return to it frequently, and Atomic Heist has that quality without question. Yes, it’s challenging and occasionally frustrating, but it’s so enjoyable you just have to try it again and see if you can get farther. Fun games get my vote, and fun, cheap games are even better. With an exceptionally low price, Atomic Heist makes an occasional bout of radiation sickness far more palatable, so get back in there and retrieve that core!

While I can see Atomic Heist appealing to the truly hardcore roguelike fans who wallow in the cruel agony of random number generation until the unlocks finally get good, I can’t see that the effort would be worth it for anyone else. I eventually made it to the third area, and when I found another set of new enemies with new immunities and new weapons I’d be forced to unlock, I finally called it quits. There just isn’t enough good here to warrant the time and effort it takes to see it all.

Atomic Heist is good for a short session, and does offer some shooty thrills and spills. The repetitive nature of the game won’t be to everyone’s taste, and although the developers have tried to help with this by changing the layout of the station every day (the so called “Daily Mission”), they can’t disguise the sense of deja vu when you are flying and shooting.
