Summary

In the year 2210, racing has evolved far beyond its expected limits. New terraforming capabilities paired with scientific breakthroughs in the field of antigravity have given birth to a new spectacle: the Antigraviator tournament. In Antigraviator, players will race on exquisitely detailed stages, full of light-speed danger, chaos and mayhem. Gamers will guide their Grav in three gameplay modes across four different worlds with three tracks each. These dynamic courses come to life, while pushing the power of Unity to the limit.

Players can challenge their friends in the fiercely competitive multiplayer modes, either online or in split-screen mode. Race yourself to the top of the worldwide leaderboard and earn special ranked skins.

Gamers can sabotage their fellow racers by activating hover mines, damaging the environment to create a rockslide, causing tunnels to collapse, firing missiles from rocket launchers along the track and many more fiendish tricks.

Gravs are customizable, but choose wisely: deciding on one upgrade may mean compromising on another. Strategically tailor-make Gravs to gain the upper hand in races or face the crushing prospect of defeat. In addition to the customization options, unlockable skins will be available free of charge.

In this futuristic high-octane racing game, defying gravity is the least of your concerns.

Basically I much like that style of arcade racer and it has a lot of potential, but this port couldn’t catch me at all.

Overall Antigraviator is a nice, smooth experience of high speed, futuristic racing. I wish it had a few more tracks as even with reverse and mirror modes it’s really only 18 courses, which would have been fine 20 years ago, but I believe players expect more in this day and age. Another thing on my wish list would have been some kind of combat element with limited ammo per lap. The random trap activation’s are fine but I want more control over my opponents demise. Plus it would give a greater sense of your own personal danger. Still the racing is intense and fun so I can’t really complain too much.

Antigraviator is a good WipeOut-like racer, with a great driving feeling and high content variety. It feels a bit too much like a dejà vu though, without adding any meaningful new elements to the genre.

Prepare to learn tracks. That is the only mastery to this game, as the speeds are ridiculous! It's hard to see what's coming around the next turn in time to actually react. This is how I imagined Pod Racing from Star Wars, and sort of how it's explained in the movie, so fast humans usually don't have the reflexes to compete. You have a small handful of vehicles and a slim variety of modifications. The game is intense off the break, an exhilarating journey into speed. There is no top end to the speeds you can achieve if you can stay off the guard rails long enough to achieve those crazy speeds. I was a fan of the F-Zero franchise and thought I had what it takes to race in this environment, but I was wrong. You will have to learn each track and its insane curves, there are very few straightaways, lending to the rail hugging. The game does away with the traditional power-ups for Cells, these can be used to boost at any time and to activate traps. The trap system was very disappointing, as you're blasting along so fast you tend to miss the spot you can activate the traps from, again unless you've memorized each of the tracks, and there are plenty of tracks. I Feel like Antigraviator could use a bit of polishing, and maybe some less stressful tracks at the start of the game. Even with these negative overtones, I had a blast hugging the rails between utilizing the break-neck speeds this game offers.

It's not as fantastic as WipEout but Antigraviator is certainly a capable and enjoyable racer that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.
