What Lies in the Multiverse

Know somebody who might be like this game?

Summary

What Lies in the Multiverse is a story-driven 2D adventure that one could call a dramatic comedy. Filled to the brim with hilarious, cartoonish hijinks, the narrative also presents the player with mature and deep themes like death, envy, and obsession.

Storyline

When a gifted boy (known only as The Kid) is zapped into a totally new universe, he encounters Everett - a sarcastic, eccentric, and mysterious scientist with the power to shift dimensions. Bonded with a dangerous mutual curiosity for parallel worlds, they embark on an investigation into the unknown. Together they venture off to a strange island where they will find key answers about Everett's past and the universe, all while being hunted by old yet dubious acquaintances who are looking to capture them and put a stop to their dimension shifting shenanigans.

Before official release, I completed demo and then played the game. I was surprised by a lot. I didn't know about this game, before the demo was advertised while I was watching Youtube. At that point, it was still at demo(december 2021). But, I wishlisted it on steam, played the demo and waited for the release. Now, In 2022 I Finally have beated the game. And I want to say, that the ladder mechanics and the story is very great. If you think that you won't need to solve puzzles that will break your mind, then you're wrong. I have beaten this game in 10 hours, but I am sure that I will be lost on second or third chapter. The trick here is that you think that you did everything that you could do, but no. Then, you find the place where you're stuck at walktrough and think "oh, I have already done this.. or no?", then you go back to the game, and nope, turns out you passed by that place, but there was no NPC where you where, but now there is! And there is a lot of these moments. If you like mind-breaking puzzles without any logic - this is for you. As a person who didn't played any puzzle games before - only thing that I can say is - Good luck beating it whitout googling or watching walktrough of the game. The story has a few moments, where you think "what the fu..",but keep going. You just forget about it, and keep going. At first you will not understand where you are, but then the puzzle will start to complete. I don't know what else to say here, it's better to try the game yourself, rather than hear about it a lot of times. You will not regret playing the game.I hope that this is not the end of the game. It shouldn't be the end, there must be a sequel. This is a story that should continue. It can't just stop here and be like "here it is, we're done and we did everything we have needed to at this point, live your life as usual", no!It is kind of weird to give this game 10/10 review, but i can't find any minuses here. The game didn't lag, the soundtrack is good, the graphics are nice(for a pixel game), even the story is great!Puzzles are difficult, but not in way "how do I complete this **** but in a way that you get pleasure after solving them. Like you did something nice.I have beaten the game in 9 hours, with little help of walktrough.I installed the game 22nd April, and have beaten it today - 26th june.I recommend this game, if you are a gamer - you can beat in at one day with a few empty cans of energy driks. Or a few cups of tea/coffee.If you are a regular person - you can beat in a few afternoons.Game is really that awesome, go try it now!

A puzzle-platformer that puts story first, What Lies in the Multiverse switches out the challenging obstacle-filled fare we’re used to with this genre in favour of a well-polished narrative adventure that’s engaging to the end.

What Lies in the Multiverse is a wonderful game that brought something new to the table. The instant multidimensional travel is a brilliant idea that breaks the monotony that 2D platformers can often have, and Vicente Aguiló and his team are to be congratulated –judging by their game design skills here, I can’t anticipate anything but a bright future for them.

What Lies in the Multiverse was one of the best platform games I've played this year. Very accurate, with great challenges, it's not tiring and has good breaks to see the plot developing (which is all located in PT-BR, in a wonderful way). I want to go back and finish the achievements just to see if I can extract anything more from the worlds of What Lies in the Multiverse, even though it doesn't have more than one ending, which I found a bit disappointing considering the plot.
