You can tell they threw this together really quick for nostalgic purposes. The graphics are one of the highlights though, I was impressed in that field.

It all starts with the loading screens. They are really long and look bad. The whole time they'll glitch and just look unpleasant. The menus and way of inviting friends I find to be odd and at first confusing. The gameplay itself isn't terrible. You can switch your controls around to what you'd like. However playing is a problem because 5 out of 7 matches froze and eventually just sent us back to the menu. All around still not a good experience at all and worth so so little.

If Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl came out twenty years ago it would have been a smashing success, ignoring that many of the characters within didn’t exist back then. But that’s not the case, and even though I did enjoy it for what it is, I can’t recommend it when the alternatives are so incredibly superior in its current state. I’m sure with a passionate team and a dedicated community it could do really well, but with a haemorrhaging player base and the blaring shortage of anything to keep people in the game in a world dominated by season passes and constant loot-box unlocks, I just don’t see that happening.

Not only is it a licensed game, but it is seemingly attempting to at least tangentially take on Smash Bros on its own home turf?!? The thing is, if you don’t spend all of your time picking it apart, and if you really love some of these classic Nickelodeon characters, you can still have a reasonably good button-mashing time with it. I think the biggest weaknesses for me are the lack of items to keep the middling fighting from being so easily apparent and the problems with glitchiness I ran into, which can be really aggravating in some specific stages in particular. That said, my daughter, who grew up with many of these characters, still had a blast and laughed as she’d beat me up with random animated characters in their various color-splashed cartoon levels. Depending on the crowd, things like roster depths and long-standing Nintendo lore don’t have as much pull, nostalgia and familiarity can win. For those people, this will likely be a bit of fun, just be realistic about its limitations going in.https://www.nindiespotlight.com/2021/10/mini-reviews-october-13th-edition.html
Played this at friend's house to see if this was worth getting for myself. Nickelodeon had 1 job and screwed it up. There's no voice actingPlayed this at friend's house to see if this was worth getting for myself. Nickelodeon had 1 job and screwed it up. There's no voice acting from characters which makes no sense. The announcer is the only person that has voice acting. This game was clearly victim to the infamous trends of being rushed out for the holidays and because it's got the Nickelodeon name on. The only redeeming factor is that we get some not all memorable characters from the 90s and early 2000s. They could've used audio clips from the shows as compensation for the voice actors/actresses that have aged or died. But hey, this is a 4th party game we shouldn't be surprised that this cheap cash grab was DOA.

Was excited to get a smash clone on an actual system but oh man was this bad. Lots of people talking about how there's no voice acting and that is correct; It's sad but no excuse for poor sound design. There's almost no sound except for the music which is forgettable at best, makes a bad game even worse. Didn't play all the stages but the ones I did play felt awful. super tiny stages that make fights last an actual second some times, and the only difference between some (other than the aesthetics) are you just have to try and continue to jump out instead of the floor hazards straight killing you. the worst offender in this game are the controls. the only way to jump is to press the triangle which makes battle next to impossible. Seriously, why release something with so little effort?
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is the most disappointing kind of game as it’s one that offers so much promise and then fails to deliver on it, even when it comes to the most obvious, low-hanging fruit.
All-Star Brawl never gets beyond that uncomfortable phase that you normally have to push through with a new fighting game. Instead, that horrifying state of confusion in which you don’t quite know what you’re doing is all you can expect from it. It might be enough to keep younger kids satisfied, but they’re also not going to recognise the characters, so it feels like a bit of a bust. This is not the Smash Bros competitor we’d hoped for.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a solid alternative to Smash, and it is on basically every platform. It won’t overtake the king or even make it worried, but for the lower price (I have seen it on sale for sub $20) it is more than worth checking out. I had a ton of fun with it and just wish it had a bit more content and a bright future.
A lot of the game feels like a rough draft, but it's simplistic enough for families to jump into for a quick match and have a lot of fun. Just don't expect to spend a ton of time with it.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be basic on the surface, but the exhilarating gameplay and edge of your seat action more than makes up for its lack of content by providing players with a fun platform fighter that rewards those who take the time to learn its surprisingly complex combat mechanics. I just wish online multiplayer was more active (come find me online and let’s fight! I main CatDog).
'Clone' is rarely a good category to be categorized in, yet Nickelodeon All-star Brawl is a creditable fighting game. Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros: Ultimate still offers more value for money, but the mechanics and gameplay of All-star Brawl are surprisingly good. If you are looking for a decent platformer or are a hardcore fan of the genre, you should definitely give the game a try.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl almost feels as if it was sold on the sheer premise of reviving Melee with Nickelodeon characters. On the fighting end, it mostly succeeds, but due to a lack of polish, cut corners and just a cheap feel, I’m skeptical how long this game can keep your attention. Yes, the sheer hilarity of seeing Patrick Star beat up CatDog is still funny, but I don’t think the lifespan of this game will increase over time. Watching all these fighters silently duke it out makes it feel like we’re watching storyboards for a singular crossover episode. While that may entice you into watching the commercials, the final product just leaves all these popular properties feel compromised.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl delivers character and environment design faithful to the cartoons, however, our high expectations were crushed because of the complete absence of voice-over. Sadly, the lack of rewards and the limited variety of game modes makes the game boring quickly. Don't expect to spend a lot of your time here.
The AI bots are dumb, but it’s really in the local play and online where the game shines. It’s fast, fun and furious, with a pace that makes the older gamer wince, but when it all comes together, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is more than capable of delivering a decent old time.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an ambitious game that tries to pit 20 classic Nick characters against each other in a platform brawler highly reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. However, due to technical issues and a lack of immersive details like voice acting, it doesn't stand up to the competition. This game will excite people who love Nickelodeon and platform brawlers but will be a hard sell to anyone else.
Although I was impressed by how solid its gameplay is, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl still feels like a hollow experience that could have been elevated to new heights if it featured additional modes and a more fleshed-out presentation complete with voice acting.
A game with a boat load of Nostalgia and good bones. A fighter that’s fun with friends, challenging with AI, and competitive online. With time and love, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl could be a top tier fighter in the near future.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is the best Super Smash Bros game I’ve played not featuring Mario. The fighting system underpinning it is a lot of fun, introducing enough new elements to stand on its own amongst its peers and having enough depth to foster competitive play going forward. It’s a shame that the list of features and content is so threadbare and that some further love hasn’t been shown for the rich source material, but hopefully, the developers can support the game and expand on this in either updates or a sequel. For the time being, this is a solid alternative to Smash Bros if you’re after something a little different, or just want to reset the playing field for that one friend who has just become too good at Ultimate.
Brawl it out as your favorite Nickelodeon characters in bombastic platform battles! With a power-packed cast of heroes from the Nickelodeon Channel.

The game is highly over-rated and without the Nickelodeon License no one would've ever willfully bought it, and that's how I review it based on what the core game and the presentation gives you.I appreciate how the devs tried to show their enthusiasm of brawl games and they tried to make a compelling combat system, but it's not very great, almost mashy and wacky. there is almost no whiff recovery on many moves and you can just freely jump around and land while throwing stuff out. Most animation are good but that's it, no any unique throws and it lacks characters actually showcasing their special powers, instead they resort to simple melee combat like punching and kicking. The best thing about the game is rollback Netcode and for that I give the game more than I wanted. Now for the things that make this game super forgettable and undeserving of the score it currently has.Sound - No voice acting, awful soundtrack, generic hit sounds. meaning that overall the game got nothing to deliver when it comes to sound.Presentation - cheap looking menus, characters look ok but there is no any alternate costumes or unlockables. The stages are also super underwhelming.Game modes and tweaks - here you pretty much got nothing other than the standard vs modes.no special modes, no story mode, no nothing else.Final score:Sound: 0 out of 3Presentation:0 out of 3Gameplay:2 out of 4I give it a 3 out of 10

Although it may be because of the PS4/PS5 and Switch versions that are the most affected, since on Xbox One and Series X there is stability on the servers. On PC the thing is quite disastrous due to the fact that it asks for more resources than Devil may cry 5 and Halo Infinite (speaking of the minimum requirements obviously, the recommended ones do not ask for a high-end PC like the games already mentioned). Besides, there are no positive points, everything is bad as for the value of 50 dollars, even with those 50 dollars you can buy Super Smash Bros Ultimate or a premiere game from other higher quality consoles.

It's just not worth the full price, the only reason I consider actually getting it is to play online, but even as a local multiplayer game to play with friends its still a pretty expensive game. There's basically just one singleplayer mode and the game itself still needs a bit of balacing. I'm not saying the game is not worth buying, far from it, but so far (theres going to be more content after all) it's not for the price it is. If you plan to actually buy the game, regardless of the platform, I suggest you wait for a discount or price drop
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a great Smash clone that painfully underutilizes its Nickelodeon license, to its own detriment. Lacking some of Nick’s biggest characters, franchises, and environments, absolutely no voice lines whatsoever, and all wrapped up in a rather unimpressive package, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a good concept, and one of the best Smash-alikes to come along in the last 20 years. But it really needs a stronger presentation and more thorough use of its namesake license to earn a better foothold as a mainstay character brawler.
Most probably the best Super Smash Bros. clone on the market, a competent 4-player brawler with enough content to keep players engaged. To be avoided if you plan to play it for the single-player modes.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl offers surprisingly competent Smash-like brawler gameplay, but is severely lacking in the bells-and-whistles department. Brawling fans will likely have a great time with this one, but those looking to ease into the genre should look elsewhere.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl simply feels like a barebones platform fighter. Combat is pretty decent, but there’s just so little surrounding it. The game’s greatest sin is how little it leans into the over-the-top zaniness that is Nickelodeon and its extensive history of memorable characters and moments. It lacks identity while being based on some of the most unique entertainment properties of the past few decades.
Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is a solid and very fast fighter that focuses its attention on delivering an experience that is competitive and fun. His faults are the lack of content, and the much-needed voice talent to bring to life the iconic roster of characters. All-Star Brawl can be improved but it seems that the game is not finished yet.
There's also just not enough content to sink your teeth into. Outside of arcade, multiplayer and a sports mode, where players must score a goal in the opponent's goal, there's just not much to do. Unlocks aren't particularly exciting either, offering little more than concept art and other goodies. It's all a bit of a shame, as there's honestly some solid mechanics buried beneath the issues. If developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs can stick with the game post-launch and build it up, it could end up being a completely different story in a year or so, but as it stands, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl feels like the shell of what it could be.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl often feels hollow and commercial; however, at its core, it remains fun and engaging enough to warrant its $40 price tag.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an entertaining platform fighter. It bleeds nostalgia, has a good roster of characters, and plays uniquely enough to stand on its own for casual and competitive players alike. The online portions are great when things are working. There isn’t much to do when they aren't, beyond playing local matches and the lackluster Arcade mode. Thankfully, All-Star Brawl was made with updates in mind.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl attempts to follow the Super Smash Bros. formula, but it just doesn’t take things far enough. There’s a general lack of polish to its presentation and its physics, making it hard for even the most diehard Nicktoons fan to get engaged. Not even Nigel Thornberry and his smashing antics can save this platform fighter.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is riddled with flaws. Not very pretty, not always very precise, a little sparse in content, the dubbing of the original cartoons are absent ... However, the fighting game of Fair Play Labs exudes passion. We don't recommend it to everyone, as NASB is targeting a very specific niche. By mimicking the physics of Super Smash Bros. Melee and implementing one of its advanced techniques, this atypical brawler manages to seduce those nostalgic for the early 2000s. Those will see it as a good way to immerse themselves in the licenses of their childhood while by rediscovering familiar sensations and a solid competitive environment. Hopefully the studio's follow-up will be good, as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is holding something.

Right now, All-Star Brawl stands on its own two feet, not trying to be Smash Ultimate now that its DLC has dried up, but trying to show us a good ‘ol nostalgic time. It lulls you in with its lightning flash fights and accessible combat, keeping a grin on your face throughout...Basically, don’t come here because the recent Battle for Bikini Bottom remaster got you in the mood for some SpongeBob humour. Come here because you want to see SpongeBob beat the crap out of Nigel Thornberry, and find your own humour in that.

My only complaint is the roster, who was in charge of selecting the roster? The roster is very lackluster and what's with the secondary characters in a game called "all stars"? It would have been cool to see some of the main Rugrats characters instead of Reptar. Also, you totally disregarded the Fairly Oddparents and Jimmy Neutron.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fun fighting game with iconic characters and easy to learn but challenging to master mechanics. They nailed the feel of a good fighting game, but the game still feels like it has a ways to go before it reaches the level of an iconic franchise like Smash. The potential is absolutely there, and after we see a few DLC launches who knows where it will stand, but for now it’s hard to imagine myself inviting friends over to play All-Star Brawl when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still around.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl contains the beginnings of what may end up being the most unlikely competitive fighting franchise ever conceived. It knows its audience and it has been able to appease them, garnering a lot of excitement along the way. However, where Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl missteps is in the handling of its properties. It's easy to get excited about the thought of Reptar dash-dancing across Jellyfish Fields, but it's tough to buy into the idea when there's a rogue ukulele serenading the mute dinosaur while it happens.

More than a nostalgic joke, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl delivers a genuinely fantastic cartoon fighting game just slightly marred by unpolished presentation.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is definitely more than just Nickelodeon Smash Bros., but you'll need to be willing to overlook some pretty substantial flaws to find the surprisingly nuanced fighter underneath the surface.

Ultimately, the success of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl lies in how lively its online community is. We’ve found players easily enough so far, but who knows if they’ll stick around. It’ll be a shame if they don’t though, because this is a competent brawler. Its pleasant visuals, varied roster of beloved characters and surprisingly deep combat make it one of the better Smash-type games out there. But if there’s nobody online to play with, its offline content will quickly lose its fun.

Maybe later they will add voice acting with some future updates. Now that some people have bought the game they may have a little bigger budget. This is just the beginning Super smash Bros didn’t satisfy everyone with their first game either. There’s no cross-playing so if you want to play with a friend make sure you buy the game on the same consol as them if you care about that.
