A premium priced game that’s actually more expensive than many other great premium games out there, whilst incorporating predatoryA premium priced game that’s actually more expensive than many other great premium games out there, whilst incorporating predatory microtransactions akin to something you would find in a f2p mobile game. All of which overshadows the mediocre gameplay. And of course those who do decide to spend the ludicrous price for the game as well as anyone who feeds the greed by buying the microtransactions now have to wait not knowing whether the game will be kept alive, or if S:E will pull the plug on the servers. If there was offline solo, then maybe there would still be some hope, but nope just like the downfall of outriders, this is yet another online only game even though it is most definitely not an MMO. All in all, this deserves the lowest of scores to send a message to the greedy likes of S:E and the new CEO of platinum games thinking live service is exactly what their target audience wanted. To think these two companies were the ones behind Nier Automata is surreal…

I can’t imagine why anyone would want to pay so much for such an awful experience. There’s a potentially enjoyable action game trapped inside Babylon’s Fall but it’s buried deep under layers of bugs, bad design, chaos and overall misery.

It may have a few interesting mechanics up its sleeve, but Babylon’s Fall manages to be one of the least interesting titles we have played as of late. And if you add astoundingly bad visual presentation on top of bland gameplay, you get a mixture that is hard to believe came from such a renowned developer and publisher. Not many will enjoy this one.

BABYLON’S FALL has plenty of quality game design in it, with a good length main campaign and even side content on launch, with more already added, and even more coming for free. Whether the price is worth it is up to you; play the demo and decide for yourself.

Babylon’s Fall should have fared better than it has. Hidden somewhere behind a myriad of poor choices is some enjoyable hack and slash combat. Going with an online-only, GaaS model and still sticking gamers with a $60 price tag. The strange choice of the watercolor painting art style. Taking nearly 20 before introducing any of the interesting pieces of character customization. Waiting until the player completes more than three-quarters of the story before opening up any of the side quests or resulting rewards. All of these could have easily been avoided.

It has issues, several of them namely graphically it’s not PS5, the story, cutscenes and voice acting is quite poor BUT at it’s core there is a satisfying gameplay loop during which you chase loot and make builds to take on higher level endgame content. Solo is doable but is more fun with matchmaking.

Babylon’s Fall seems like it needed a lot more development time. The core combat feels stiffer than my left wrist, which is currently recovering from a broken bone. Combining that with lackluster graphics and limited multiplayer options would be bad enough, but locking out key features of the game behind ten or so hours of gameplay makes Babylon’s Fall a very tough sell. Stacking microtransactions on top of it all leaves a nasty aftertaste that Platinum Games is going to have to wash out for a long time to come. Babylon’s Fall is good for some mindless, repetitive dungeon crawling, but certainly not for the launch MSRP of $59.99.

Babylon's Fall is a terrible experience all the way throughout. Reaching the endgame and postgame content (when the game actually becomes quite good) doesn't matter because the journey to get to that point is the most painfully boring affair in gaming. The game's dull story and horrendous visuals certainly don't do this game any favors.

From the technical production to its desired visual direction alike, you needn’t take one step into any of its lackluster dungeons to find something both unpleasant and unappealing to invest in. And once you do, you’ll find a core loop unashamedly insistent on dragging its heels all in the name of a loot grind that itself isn’t all that exciting. To say the dismal failings on its loot aspect — and perhaps, even its live-service ecosystem on top — isn’t even the lowest moment should give you a clearer picture on how badly PlatinumGames and Square Enix together have missed the mark here. It might then end up strangely poetic come year’s end. That after seeing what might arguably be the year’s best offering release in recent weeks, Babylon’s Fall by contrast, could very well stand as its worst.

Perfectly crafted Platinium game. Different weapon setup totally change the playstyle. Even same weapon with different enchantments may change the day. The Attacks of all enemies are clean and visible. The bosses have great mechanics, on the level of MMO games. So 10 out of 10 on this part.+ World is another thing that holds pretty well. There are some enviorment hazzards to keep it fresh, personal favorite was to fight sliding on ice. Pure 10 out of 10 here too.+ Story itself is kind of mediocre, but game like this really don't need anything more. I just don't feel like this game needs to have anything complex in there, just something to keep the action going, and they deliver on it pretty fine.And here we go with the issues.- Presentation of microtansactions. First season pass is free for all, most games with this model are not giving it free, so I would call that plus, they promissed next season passes to be around 10$ and that sounds positive too (compared to the price of most saeson passes). But how badly this is presented to the player, full cinematic, dialog, every time when you log in pop up windows about it, it is just painful. There are NO GAMPLAY MICROTRANSACTIONS. But players feel like they are super important, from the tutorial they show you about the cosmetics you can buy with RMT, after that if you want to buy stuff with ingame currency, the show will open on RMT page first every time. It is just painfully annoying.- Visually the game is just bad, and no, if you turn off the painting effect it is not that bad. However during most of the cinematics and while you are in town, there is this painting effect that is just not crafted well enough and makes everything looks bad. Hairs are super outdated, can make even From Software proud of their work. But I would not call this total lost, because the game fly with no frame drops or any other performance issues, while you are beating the **** out of enemies, that is kind of important.- No scale depending on party members. The game is made to be multiplayer, I get it. And most of the missions I can fight solo if I can't find people, that is cool. Once you learn how to DPS properly, enemies die fast, so that is all fine. UNTIL BOSS, some of the bosses in this game just need a bit of punch in their HP bar if you play solo. It is just that Babylon is going out around so many great games, even square enix have great games this part of the year, it just can't hold too many players at launch, and leaving it in a state where it is expected from you to find party all the times is a bad choice.

Babylon’s Fall falters with its implementation of a live-service model. While it contains a compelling, multi-faceted combat system, its brilliance is lost in a crowd of unnecessary features. The art direction, although interesting, doesn’t capture the notion of an oil painting. Instead, it looks bland and at times, downright ugly. Unfortunately, it seems that a troubled development period has marred the game, resulting in a directionless, cluttered and convoluted adventure.

Миссии рассчитаны на мультиплеер, но игроков нету и по сути одному играть не возможно, а добавить ботов или ослаблять врагов при отсутствии группы разработчикам ума не хватило. Управление ужасное, приходится использовать сразу 4 пальца на шифтах так как 2 шифта постоянно надо держать зажатыми. Подписка в игре, серьезно??? Такие игры бесплатно раздают, за фулл прайс о каких подписках может идти речь. Вобщем эта игра разочарование года

There is no one that we would recommend Babylon’s Fall to. It’s visually dated, consistently dull and features the most average PlatinumGames combat we can remember. On paper, the concept of a game like this bathed in the studio’s signature style is an appealing one, but sadly there’s nothing about the Platinum shine that’s evident in Babylon’s Fall.

The murky visuals, bland dungeon design, boring gameplay overshadow the excellent boss design and a killer soundtrack, making this more of a chore to play and dampening the experience tremendously. There is no way in good faith that this could be recommended as a full-priced title, however in the future, if they improve upon the many mistakes that are currently in the game, it could be made into what it originally looked to be.

My time with Babylon's Fall was a strange one. I don't recall ever disliking a game so heavily, only to fall in love with it moments later. The satisfaction driven nature of the experience is a road worth taking, but the slow burn isn't for everyone.
